Believe me, this superwoman made her 40kg kettlebell deadlifts look easy 🤍💪🏻🤍

I am a trauma-informed somatic teacher and strength coach; I support people who are looking for a whole-body approach to support them through trauma and life’s challenges.

We combine intuitive, yoga and functional movement, somatic breathwork, heavy weight training, mindfulness, psycho-education, creativity, focussed listening, guided relaxation and meditation, time to talk…

I work with children, young people and adults from all walks of life and with different experiences. I LOVE what I do and I am so grateful for that 🙏🏻

I 🖤 the Jefferson Curl because for me, it helps me move from ‘doing’ to ‘being’ when training with a nervous system-friendly approach 🖤

Yes…it improves spinal mobility, hamstring flexibility, back body strength and builds resilience to injury - when performed with proper form and progressive loading.

But because the emphasis is on slow, controlled movement with technique and range of motion being more important than weight, there is genuine opportunity to pause, breathe and focus your attention on what you feel and notice in the body.

It takes time, commitment, practice and skill to lift really heavy weights and I can confidently say that ALL my gorgeous students have these in buckets!

I love the community we have built - the laughter, encouragement and determination they all bring to each class or my 1:1s.

The focus has always been:
🖤 Nervous-system friendly and a sense of safety
🖤 Technique and understanding before lifting heavy
🖤 Building confidence and a sense of empowerment
🖤 Developing real strength for healthy longevity

I am so grateful and proud to say that all my classes are currently full BUT I do have a couple of spaces in a new fortnightly class starting Monday 8th June 12:15pm (4 places gone already!! 😳🤩)

🖤 C O N S C I O U S B R E A T H I N G
Before I even consider working with a formal / structured breath practice (for myself or with my clients and students) I like to start with noticing and observing my breath.

How can I decide what breath practice best suits me at that time, if I don’t know what my breath is like or how my whole body is sensing itself in that moment..?

One of the foundational practices I use is “Conscious Breathing” where I say to myself:
“I am breathing in. I am breathing out”

I allow my inhale and exhale to move alongside the words but the focus is on saying the words, rather than analyse my breath, at this stage.

Sometimes I will vary the speed at which I say the words, especially going slower with the ‘breathing out’ words, to encourage the nervous system to soften, and to lower heart rate and blood pressure.

I actually find it a very soothing breath before bedtime too 🖤

3 things I like to do before moving / training which help me ground to the present moment and give me time to check-in with myself.

Prone lying with conscious breathing (“I am breathing in… I am breathing out”)
Foot care - massage, heel lifts, spiky ball rolling, toe spreading
Self-touch, tapping, squeezing

From this place I get a better sense of what’s going on in my whole body and it helps guide my session:

🌟What mood am I in?
🌟What are my energy levels like?
🌟Do I have any niggles in the body that I need to tend to?
🌟Is my head busy with thoughts or fairly spacious?
🌟What do I feel like doing / not doing?!

This helps me to stop steam-rolling into something I think I ‘should’ be doing and work out what is best for my whole, somatic wellbeing 🖤
