Local Community Functional Neurological Disorder FND Ashfield & Notts Support Group held at the Lammas Leisure Centre .
Come and have a drink, natter, do some mindfull art with Buzzy Mees Creative Craftz .
Firstly i'd like to a start of with the Lammas Leiisure Centre.
Come along to the group and collect your free wristband pass to try out a free session like swimming, gym, ice skating, bowling or maybe ecen a soundbath for relaxation.
Also to support our health and wellbeing is the Exercise Referal program 12 weeks of support in keeping moving, exercise that is monited safely.
All can be discussed further in class aling with signposting of who to talk to and during class.
Secondly about our FND Support Group
I find that Functional Neurological Disorder in and around the Ashfield & Nottinghamshire area seems to lack support and awareness.
There is no signposting information about, you see no leaflets about FND. Doctors, Hospitals, Community Centres, etc. Have nothing to give you but a website.
Well, this needs to change and we can help change this, together.
Alot of people in general that you speak to have never even heard about FND bever mind knowing what it is? This we can change, together.
How.....
By starting up FND Asfield & Notts Support Group and coming together to support one another, share our stories, not to feel isolated, to laugh, to cry and to help spread our posters around in Librarys, Hospitals, Doctors etc to help this change in our Community.
Why.......
As like me and many stories heard before. When you first recieve your diagnosis we tend to recieve a piece of paper with a National Website/page then discharged.
No literature, no signposting, no support on how to manage going forward, how to explain to my Family, Friends, and at the time my Employers.
I left Hospital feeling bewildered, crying, unsure of how to manage, stress at loising job, money, much more.
This group is something i wished was around when diagnosed last Year and is why i decided to start one up.
Having somewhere, someone to go to talk about all the emotions and changes i was going through that really understood.
To speak with others face2face that were either just diagnosed, had it a while or in remission,
Discuss the impact on our loved ones who then find themseles becoming our Careers
This group is not just for us FND Warriors. Its open to Careers, support friends, partners, etc...
This all inclusive, warm, friendly FND group that is ready to welcome you with open arms.
So let's use the group, not lose it.
Back to the Lammas Leisure Centre, a big shout out in helping make this all possible....
Thank you in particular the lovely, wonderfull Sarah Kirk for taking time to listen to my Story and giving me the chance and opportunity to run a local FND support group.
To all the Employees inc Management that help behind the scenes to support the Group to help us with spreading FND Awareness.
I hope to see some familar faces, some new faces on the 2nd Sept 1pn-3pm in the Health Hub at Lammas Leisure Centre, Sutton in Ashfield.
Take care, much love.keep strong, keep positive.
Remember.... Your not on your own. You have us....You are a FND Warrior.
