A farewell service is an important part of the grieving process. That may be a funeral, memorial or celebration of life. It can be traditional or something different it doesn't matter as long as you have an opportunity to say goodbye. This research survey has proved what most of us already new.

Research commissioned by the owners of North Wiltshire Crematorium has revealed that attended funerals are “essential” for saying a proper goodbye to a loved one.

I've been working at the Amber Valley Crematorium today with this slightly crazy but very professional man and wife team, delivering a perfectly bespoke service for a very special man who will be extremely missed by those who loved him.

The weather was a lot wetter than it was in the first photo but it didn't stop so many people turning out to pay their respects and say their farewells, that there was standing room only.

Rest in peace, your family did you proud and it was my privilege to tell your story ❤️.

I was so sad to hear the news yesterday about the death of the great Dolly Parton. But this stark reality reminds us that no matter how famous, rich or talented we are death affects us all.

I then started to wonder how many really prepare for something that is an inevitable part of life. Have we had those discussions with those closest to us? Do our loved ones really know what our wishes are once we have moved on from this world? Do we realise that talking about these important details in advance isn't morbid it's simply an inevitable part of life. And in reality making plans takes the pressure off our familes and helps support them in the grieving process.

Don't leave it until it's too late. If you can't do it for yourself do it for those you love. ❤️
