CAN’T SLEEP? TIRED BUT WIRED? ACHING ALL OVER? 💚

Or perhaps you are sleeping… but still waking up feeling as though you haven’t rested at all?

My 7-week Therapeutic Movement with Yin Yoga course starts this Thursday and is designed for people who need something very different from another “push harder” exercise class.

Yin uses slow, supported movement, longer-held positions, gravity and breathwork to encourage muscular tension to soften, gently load connective tissues and help bring the body into a calmer state.

When we’ve been under prolonged stress, the body can remain in a state of heightened arousal. That can contribute to the frustrating “exhausted but unable to switch off” feeling.

So in this class, we work in the opposite direction.

We slow down.

We breathe.

We release.

We give the body an opportunity to move towards its parasympathetic — rest, digest and recover — state.

Over the seven weeks, the practices are designed to support:

🌿 Less tension, stiffness and discomfort
🌙 Deeper, more restorative sleep
🧠 Greater clarity and concentration
💚 Reduced feelings of stress and overwhelm
😊 Better mood
🧘‍♀️ More mobility and ease within your own body

AND there’s something extra with this course…

Book the complete 7 weeks and you’ll also receive a FREE Hume Health Body Composition Analysis, worth £20.

The Hume Body Pod can provide 40 body composition measurements, giving you an interesting snapshot of your body beyond simply what you weigh — including body fat, visceral fat, muscle mass, body water, bone mass, BMR, metabolic age and more.

✨ 7-WEEK COURSE — £70
That’s just £10 per class, plus your £20 Hume reading included FREE.

PAYG is £13 per session, subject to availability.

📅 Starts Thursday 3rd September
⏰ 8:00–9:20pm
📍 Serenity Studio, 4 High Street, Knighton
💻 Or join us LIVE online from home

No need to be flexible. No need to be “good at yoga”. And absolutely no need to push through pain.

Slow down. Release. Reset.

Sometimes feeling better starts with doing less, not more. 💚

CAN’T SLEEP? Tired but wired? Or sleeping for hours and STILL waking up exhausted? 😴

It might not simply be that you need more sleep. Your body may be struggling to properly switch off.

When we’re chronically stressed or burnt out, the nervous system can remain more alert than we want it to be — even when we’re exhausted. Stress and hyperarousal are strongly linked with insomnia, and practices involving slow breathing, relaxation and yoga can help shift the body towards a calmer physiological state.

That’s exactly what we work with in Yin Yoga & Breathwork.

Rather than pushing, sweating or trying harder, we deliberately slow everything down. We use long, supported Yin poses, stillness, gravity and carefully chosen breathing techniques to reduce physical tension and encourage the body towards its parasympathetic “rest and digest” response.

Over time, this can support:

🌙 A quieter, less racing mind
🌙 Lower physical tension and stress
🌙 Easier relaxation before sleep
🌙 Deeper, more restorative rest
🌙 Less pain and stiffness
🌙 Waking feeling calmer and more refreshed

And because Yin is slow and adaptable, you absolutely do not need to be flexible or experienced at yoga.

If you’re constantly saying, “I’m absolutely shattered, but I just can’t switch off,” this class was made with bodies like yours in mind.

A Dragon, a book… and a conversation that reminded me why nervous-system-centred wellbeing matters so much.

It was a real pleasure meeting Sarah Willingham from Dragons’ Den at the Big Business Events gathering and having the opportunity to share a little about my work and my book, The Serenity Reset.

My approach to yoga and breathwork has evolved far beyond simply helping people stretch, relax or “take a deep breath”.

At the heart of everything I teach is one question:

What does the nervous system need in order to feel safe enough to change?

When someone has been living with prolonged stress, burnout, poor sleep, chronic tension or persistent exhaustion, telling them to “just relax” is rarely helpful. Their body may have become very good at staying alert.

That is why my work combines nervous-system-centred yoga, therapeutic movement, breathwork, meditation, Yoga Nidra and practical regulation techniques.

Sometimes the answer is movement.
Sometimes it is slowing the breath.
Sometimes it is connection.
Sometimes it is learning how to recognise the early signs of overload before the body is forced to hit the brakes for you.

And importantly, not all breathwork is calming. Different breathing practices create different physiological responses, so I teach people to choose the technique that matches the state they are actually in rather than assuming one breathing exercise suits everyone.

This is also the philosophy behind The Serenity Reset — my practical guide to understanding stress, burnout, nervous-system dysregulation and the small changes that can help the body begin moving back towards balance.

It was rather lovely seeing my book make its way into a photo with a Dragon too. I’m not claiming investment just yet… but I’ll take the photo. 😂

If you work in workplace wellbeing, employee burnout prevention, chronic stress support — or you’re simply curious about how breath, movement and nervous-system regulation fit together — I’d love to connect.

The Serenity Reset is available on Amazon.

✨ Books, business, yoga… and a rather surreal full-circle moment. ✨

Here I am with Mike Soutar from BBC’s The Apprentice, holding my two books:

📘 The Serenity Reset
📗 The Serenity Kitchen – Nourishing the Nervous System

…and the current copy of OM Magazine, which just happens to have me on the front cover! 🥹❤️

Inside OM you’ll also find:

✨ My three-page interview on pages 51–53
✨ A feature on The Serenity Reset on page 65

Mike has spent much of his career in publishing and leadership, including working with some of Britain’s best-known magazines, and his recently published book explores modern leadership — including the idea of learning how to:

🔥 Stay on fire without burning out.

And that feels incredibly relevant to yoga.

Because yoga was never really meant to be about perfect poses, flexibility or pushing our bodies harder.

At its heart, yoga is about awareness.

🧘‍♀️ Noticing when we are forcing
🌬️ Learning to use the breath to regulate our state
🌿 Recognising when our body needs rest
💛 Finding steadiness during challenge
🧠 Becoming aware of our thoughts, habits and reactions
😴 Allowing space for recovery and deep rest

One of the principles of yoga is Svadhyaya — self-study.

It encourages us to become curious about ourselves.

How do I respond to stress?

When do I push past my limits?

Do I listen to my body?

Can I rest without feeling guilty?

Can I recognise what I actually need today?

Because sometimes strength looks like holding a challenging pose…

…and sometimes strength looks like choosing Child’s Pose, a slower breath, Yoga Nidra or simply stopping.

🔥 We don’t have to lose our ambition, passion or fire.

We just need to stop believing that exhaustion and burnout are proof that we are doing enough.

That philosophy sits right at the heart of what we teach at Serenity Studio.

✨ Movement
✨ Breathwork
✨ Meditation
✨ Yoga Nidra
✨ Strength
✨ Connection
✨ Rest
✨ Self-awareness

Not simply to become “better at yoga”…

…but to become better at recognising what our body, mind and nervous system actually need.

Perhaps that’s where real balance begins. 🧘‍♀️🌿

Mike’s career has spanned publishing, leadership and business, and his own recently published book includes an idea I absolutely love:

🔥 Stay on fire without burning out.

And that feels very yoga.

Yoga is not just about flexibility or poses.

It is about awareness.

🧘‍♀️ Knowing when to push
🌬️ Knowing when to breathe
🌿 Knowing when to rest
💛 Knowing when to soften
🧠 Knowing yourself well enough to notice when something needs to change

One of yoga’s principles is Svadhyaya — self-study.

How am I really feeling?

Am I listening to my body?

Am I constantly overriding tiredness?

Can I rest without guilt?

Can I still be ambitious without sacrificing my wellbeing?

Because sometimes strength is a powerful posture.

And sometimes strength is choosing Child’s Pose, Yoga Nidra, a slower breath… or simply stopping.

🔥 We don’t need to lose our fire.

We need to learn how to carry it without letting it consume us.

That is very much at the heart of what we do at Serenity Studio:

✨ Yoga
✨ Breathwork
✨ Meditation
✨ Yoga Nidra
✨ Strength
✨ Connection
✨ Rest
✨ Nervous system support

Not simply becoming “better at yoga”…

but becoming better at recognising what your body and mind need from you. 🌿

I’ve completed my hypnosis course and received my certificate! 🥰

I really enjoy learning new things and noticing how they connect with the yoga, breathwork, meditation, Yoga Nidra and NLP I already practise.

One of the eight limbs of yoga is Svadhyaya — self-study. It can mean studying teachings, but also continuing to observe, question and understand ourselves a little more deeply.

I think that’s one of the things I love most about learning. Every new subject seems to offer another little piece of the puzzle — another way of understanding the mind, body, breath and the patterns we carry.

There’s always more to learn, and certainly always more to understand about ourselves.

Although at this point, my brain may soon need its own filing cabinet, complete with colour-coded folders and a “do not disturb, currently absorbing knowledge” sign! 😂

I’m definitely not finished learning yet… although my brain may be requesting a short tea break! 😂❤️
