Then we call the body the problem
when it finally reacts.

Anxiety is often the nervous system saying:
this is too much.
Slow down.
Something needs to change.

Sometimes it can feel like you’re going backwards.

Old feelings resurface.

And it’s easy to think,
“I thought I’d already dealt with this…”

But healing doesn’t work in a straight line.

When something comes back, it’s not because you’ve failed.
It’s because your system feels safe enough now to process it more deeply.

You’re not back at the beginning.
You’re meeting the same part of you from a stronger, more resourced place.

That’s growth.

And it doesn’t always feel like progress while you’re in it.

I’ve been quietly deepening my work over the last few months, and I wanted to share something with those of you who follow my page.

Alongside hypnotherapy, I’ve been specialising in gentle trauma release work supporting people to feel calmer, safer and more grounded by working with the subconscious mind and the nervous system.

What is trauma informed hypnotherapy?
It simply means I work with your mind and body gently and safely.
You stay in control at all times, and nothing is forced or relived.

Later, when you begin to feel safer,
those emotions can start to come up.

Not because you’re going backwards —
but because your system is finally ready to process them.

This can look like:

• Tearfulness without a clear reason
• Sudden waves of emotion
• A feeling of heaviness or release

This is your nervous system doing its job.

With the right support, these responses can be processed gently without needing to relive anything in detail.

Healing doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like:

• feeling a little calmer in situations that used to overwhelm you

• not overthinking something as much as you normally would

• being able to rest without guilt

• saying no without the same anxiety afterwards

• sleeping more peacefully

• feeling safer in your own mind and body

These small shifts are often the beginning of something much bigger.

Because when the nervous system starts to feel safe, everything begins to change naturally.

You don’t have to force confidence.
You don’t have to push through fear.

Your mind and body can learn a new way.

Change is possible and it can happen more gently than you might expect. 🍁

One of the biggest myths about hypnotherapy is that you lose control.

In reality, hypnosis is simply a state of focused relaxation, a bit like when you’re absorbed in a book or drifting just before sleep.

During hypnotherapy:

• you remain aware of what’s happening
• you can speak and move if you want to
• you can come out of the state at any time
• you are always in control

Most people describe it as feeling deeply calm and relaxed while the mind becomes more open to positive change.

This relaxed state allows us to work with the subconscious patterns that keep certain fears, anxieties or habits in place.

For issues such as trauma responses or phobias, I also use additional trauma-informed approaches from my specialist trauma and phobia CPD training. These methods are designed to help the nervous system safely release old fear responses without needing to relive distressing experiences.

Healing doesn’t have to mean pushing through fear, it can happen gently and safely.

Anxiety doesn’t always look the way people expect.

It isn’t just panic attacks or constant worry.

Often, anxiety shows up in very specific areas of life, sometimes in ways people don’t immediately recognise as anxiety at all.

It can look like:

• dental anxiety
• medical or hospital anxiety
• driving anxiety
• fear of flying
• social anxiety
• relationship anxiety or fear of rejection
• lack of confidence for interviews or new situations
• overthinking conversations afterwards
• difficulty switching off at night
• sleep problems or racing thoughts
• avoiding things you want to do

These responses aren’t weakness or failure.

They’re usually learned protection responses held within the nervous system, often linked to past experiences where your brain learned to stay alert or avoid discomfort.

The good news is that anxiety patterns can be gently changed.

Trauma-informed hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind to help your body feel calmer, safer, and more in control again.
