I was looking back over some of my recent posts, and realising that it was starting to look pretty female-focused. Wanting to redress the balance here - I've had some fanastic results working with men, some of who have struggled with migraines, stress, anxiety, and injuries, to name but a few issues. Recently I've also been diving more into how acupunture can support men's fertility (we often tend only to think of women and fertility, but after all, it takes 2!) It's so important that men look after their health and wellbeing, on all levels, and I just want to get the word out there!

It's been so rewarding working with women who are expecting a baby. I've been calling on my experience with Shiatsu from years ago, as well as gentle acupuncture, to prepare women for a smoother labour. I can honestly say I was so excited when I had my client cancel on me because she had successfully given birth!

Another amazing link between Western and Eastern approaches to health and medical knowledge:
Though the Bao Mai is unique to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Western medicine also recognizes the mind–body link in reproductive health. The hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian (HPO) axis explains how the brain, hormones, and ovaries communicate. Chronic stress can disrupt this axis, causing missed ovulation, irregular periods, peri and menopausal symptoms, and lower fertility.

This is why fertility and hormonal treatments in TCM nearly always include
* stress reduction,
* gentle emotional support to calm the heart,
* strengthening points for improved blood flow
