Join us at the Dementia Friendly Leeds Event with Leeds Older People's Forum and Dementia Friendly Leeds! 💛

The North Leeds, Otley and Horsforth team will be there, connecting with local people and sharing information about the support available for those living with dementia and their loved ones.

The event is packed with opportunities to learn, engage and meet a wide range of dementia-friendly organisations from across Leeds. Enjoy live performances, interactive sessions, helpful advice, and discover local services designed to make a positive difference.

Right at Home Leeds North, Otley & Horsforth will be hosting a FREE Dementia Friends Information Session at our Horsforth office next Wednesday.

The session will be delivered by an trained Alzheimer's SocietyAmbassador through our partnership with Dementia Friendly Horsforth. It is designed to help people better understand dementia and how small, practical actions can make a real difference to those living with the condition.

Dementia affects many families across our communities, and increasing awareness helps create a more supportive and inclusive environment for everyone.

During the session, attendees will learn more about dementia, common misconceptions, and practical ways to support people living with the condition. It also supports the wider aim of building a more dementia-friendly community in Horsforth and North Leeds.

The session is open to anyone who would like to learn more, whether supporting a loved one, working in the community, or simply wanting to increase awareness.

We have a small handful of places remaining for our free Dementia Friends Information Session at our Horsforth office on Tuesday 3rd June at 2:00pm.

Due to the success of our last session, we are running this event again.

This is a friendly and informative session to learn more about dementia, ask questions, and chat with others who have loved ones living with dementia.

Loneliness and social isolation can have a real impact on everyday life. Sometimes, having someone there to spend time with can make all the difference.

At Right at Home Leeds North, Otley and Horsforth, we provide companionship support to help people stay connected, engaged, and comfortable at home.

For us, companionship means brightening someone’s day, sharing meaningful moments, and leaving each visit with a smile. It’s about helping people feel less alone, more confident, and supported to continue enjoying the things they love - whether that’s getting out and about without worry, having someone to chat to over a cup of tea, or simply knowing there is a familiar face they can rely on. It also offers peace of mind to families who may not always be able to visit as often as they would like, knowing their loved one has regular company, conversation, and support.

Companionship care might include a cup of tea and a chat, a walk locally, hobbies, or visiting favourite places together.

Today, Right at Home Leeds North, Otley and Horsforth were proud to attend the Dementia Awareness Event at Otley Action for Older People alongside Presto & Meals on Wheels, Memory Lane Care Centre, Westgate Surgery, Newstead & Walker, Care & Repair, and Alzheimer's Society. 💙

It was wonderful to meet so many people, share information, raise awareness, and support those living with dementia and their families within our community.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such an important and welcoming event - together we can continue making a difference for older people and those affected by dementia.
