☀️ Today feels like the perfect day to talk about sun safety.

With the current heatwave and a solar eclipse taking place today, lots of us will be spending more time outdoors. It’s a good reminder that sunburn is a burn - and one we can help prevent.

Swipe through our carousel for some simple ways to keep little ones safe in the sun ☀️ 💚

As part of our August campaign supporting the Children’s Burns Trust, we’re sharing burns awareness messages throughout the month - because preventing a burn is always better than treating one.

Stay safe, stay sun smart and enjoy the sunshine! 💚

💙 **Back at Freddie & Friends Community Hub today** 💙

It’s always lovely to be back at Freddie & Friends and see the fantastic work they do to support children, young people and families through their SEND sessions.

My relationship with Freddie & Friends started back in May 2025 when I delivered **Emergency First Aid at Work training** for their staff. During that training, we also talked about the importance of having a **bleed control kit** available for serious bleeding emergencies — and I was really pleased to see that they now have one in place. 🩸

Earlier in the summer, I was back delivering **first aid sessions for the children** attending their SEND sessions, teaching them some simple and practical first aid skills in a fun and age-appropriate way. I’ll be back again on **27th August** for another session!

Today was a little different. I was there to talk to the **adults and older children** about serious bleeding, what they can do in an emergency and the importance of having the right equipment available.

I’m proud to be able to raise awareness of the work of the ** The Daniel Baird Foundation **, who are helping communities to become better prepared for serious bleeding emergencies through bleed control kits and awareness.

Having a kit is fantastic — but it’s just as important to know **where it is, what’s inside and how to use it** when every second counts.

Thank you to the lovely team at Freddie & Friends for having me back again. ❤️

🚶‍♀️💚 150 MILES. ONE INCREDIBLE CAUSE

Throughout August, Mini First Aid franchisees and trainers are taking on our 150-mile challenge in support of the incredible Children’s Burns Trust, celebrating their 25th anniversary.

Some are walking individually, others as teams - but we're all working towards the same goal:

💰 Raising funds to help the Children’s Burns Trust continue their incredible work

Many walkers. One journey. One amazing cause 💚

As children grow, the burn risks around them change.

Children aged 0-1 may be at risk from hot drinks being carried over them and bath water

Children aged 1-4 are naturally curious and may reach, pull or climb towards hazards, including hot drinks, appliances and dangling cords

As children aged 5-10 become more independent, new risks can appear around kitchens, hair and beauty tools, radiators, heaters and outdoor spaces.

For children aged 12-18, increased independence can bring additional risks around cooking, heated appliances, candles and fireworks.

☀️ Seasonal activities can also introduce different burn risks throughout the year, from BBQs, fire pits and sun exposure in summer to fireworks, hot water bottles and heaters during colder months.

This August, we are supporting families and practitioners with practical burn prevention advice that reflects real life and every stage of childhood.

Prevention is possible when advice feels clear, realistic and easy to act on.

At Mini First Aid, we are incredibly proud to support Children's Burns Trust, whose work over the last 25 years has helped educate families, prevent life-changing burn injuries and provide vital support to children and families when the unimaginable happens.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, some of the Mini First Aid network ( included) are taking on a fundraising challenge throughout August.

Together, franchisees and trainers from across the UK will walk the distance from Mini First Aid HQ to the Children’s Burns Trust HQ - an amazing 150 miles. Every step we take will help raise awareness of burns prevention, first aid and the fantastic work of the Children’s Burns Trust.

Throughout August you can expect:
💚 Burns prevention and first aid tips
🚶 Updates from our 150-mile challenge

💚Opportunities to donate both online and at classes, with every penny going directly to the Children’s Burns Trust

💚As a Mini First Aid trainer, I know just how quickly a burn can happen and how important it is to know what to do in those first crucial moments. If, together, we can help prevent even one child from suffering a serious burn or give one parent the confidence to act, every step will have been worth it.

Our challenge today, and we’d love you to come along on the journey. Whether you donate, share our posts, join one of our classes or simply help us spread these life-saving messages, you’ll be making a difference.

Here’s to 150 miles, raising awareness, and celebrating 25 incredible years of the Children’s Burns Trust 💚
