This is not my usual funeral attire but worn for a lady who loved bright colours and loved her garden. Her funeral was awash with colour!

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled against online cremation firm Pure Cremation, based in Andover, Hampshire, after concluding that an advert "misleadingly implied" that its standard package included an in-person funeral service, when that was not the case.

I absolutely accept there are times when an unattended funeral is appropriate (every independent funeral director offers this service) but would argue that most people benefit from and value the chance to say goodbye.

Direct funerals are increasing popular but are, in my opinion, a mistake. Funerals are importance for those left behind.
