This week has reminded me just how important connection is when it comes to our mental health. 💚
We’ve been lucky enough to have our Aussie family here with us this week, and my heart feels so full because of it.
We’ve spent time together making memories, sharing stories, enjoying simple moments, and just being present with one another. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated, just family. Yet somehow those are often the moments that mean the most.
Now the week is coming to an end and it’s time to say goodbye. As much as my heart is happy for the time we’ve had together, it’s also a little sad knowing how much we’re going to miss them.
It got me thinking about how much we all need connection.
In a world where everyone seems busy, rushing from one thing to the next, it’s easy to underestimate the power of spending time with the people who make us feel loved, valued and accepted.
Mental health isn’t always about therapy sessions, medication, self-help books or finding the perfect coping strategy. Those things can all play an important role, but sometimes it’s also about human connection.
It’s about feeling seen.
It’s about feeling heard.
It’s about knowing there are people who care about you.
It’s about the comfort of a hug when words aren’t enough.
It’s about laughing, talking, reminiscing, sharing a meal, or simply sitting together and feeling less alone.
So many people are carrying struggles that nobody knows about. Anxiety, depression, grief, stress, loneliness, menopause, caring responsibilities, relationship problems, financial worries… the list goes on. Sometimes people can look absolutely fine on the outside while fighting battles nobody else can see.
That’s why connection matters.
Because while it can’t take away someone’s pain, it can remind them that they don’t have to carry it on their own.
This week has been a beautiful reminder to slow down and appreciate the people who matter most. The people who lift us up, make us smile, check in on us, and remind us who we are when life feels heavy.
As our Aussie family head back home, we’ll miss them more than they’ll ever know, but we’ll treasure every memory we’ve made together. 💚
Sometimes we don’t realise how much we needed that connection until it’s time to say goodbye.
So today I’d love to ask…
💚 Who are the people you’re grateful for?
💚 Who helps you through the difficult days?
💚 And have you told them lately how much they mean to you?
Because at the end of the day, it’s often the people, not the things, that leave the biggest mark on our hearts. 💚
