Happy Choose-day ✨️

I think one of the hardest parts of building something new is that, for quite a while, it mostly exists in your own head.

You can see where you're trying to get to, but from the outside it probably just looks like you're doing lots of completely unrelated things.....

That's definitely been Elluminate for me at times.

Workshops. Creative projects. Horses. Young people. Community. Practical skills. Experiences.

Ideas that have come and gone.

But the more I've worked on it, the more I've realised they're not actually as unrelated as they first appeared.

There's a thread running through all of it.

And that's what I've been spending a lot of time figuring out lately — what that thread is, and how I build Elluminate around it properly.

There's still plenty happening behind the scenes, but it's starting to feel like the pieces are finally finding their places.

And that's quite an exciting feeling. 🌱

Hello Monday ✨️

🌱 A little thought for the week ahead…

I’ve been thinking about foundations a lot lately....

Not the exciting bit where everything is finally visible and you can stand back and think, “Look what I’ve built.”

The less glamorous stuff that comes first.

Putting things in place. Having the conversations. Making the decisions. Learning as you go. Doing the bits that nobody else really sees.....the boring stuff!

I think we can sometimes mistake that stage for not making progress, when actually it’s probably one of the most important parts.

There’s quite a lot happening behind the scenes for Elluminate just now, and I’m trying to remind myself that I don’t need to have it all figured out today. I just need to keep putting the right things in place.

So that’s my intention for this week.

Build the foundations, and let the rest grow from there. 🌱

What are you working on quietly at the moment that you know will matter later?

🍂 AUTUMN EQUINOX 🍂

Someone asked me the other day about my favourite time of year..... I think it's definitely autumn, and this day 👇 i will get to show you why!

On Sunday 20 September, I’m bringing together a few of my favourite things for a small seasonal gathering at Bankhead Farm in Leven.

As summer gives way to autumn, we’ll spend the afternoon outdoors, slowing down, learning some practical skills, spending time with the horses and enjoying what this changing season has to offer.

🐴 EQUINE CONNECTION

We’ll spend time with the horses, learning more about how they communicate through body language, personal space and presence. You’ll get the chance to observe, interact and discover what happens when we learn to communicate in a way the horse understands.

🌿 SEASONAL FORAGING

We’ll explore what’s growing around the farm at this time of year and gather some seasonal ingredients for our harvest table. There’ll be plenty to notice, learn about and collect as we make our way around the land.

🔥 PRACTICAL FIRE SKILLS

We’ll get hands-on with some simple fire-lighting skills — looking at tinder, choosing and preparing wood, building a fire and adapting what we do to the conditions. Everyone will also get a little fire-steel kit to take home.

🍎 SEASONAL FOOD

As the afternoon unfolds, our harvest table will grow with the things we’ve gathered. Some of those ingredients will then become part of a warm, seasonal meal for us to enjoy together.

And if you fancy making an evening of it…

🌊🔥 EVENING SAUNA EXPERIENCE

From 5:00–7:30pm, the evening continues with a walk along the beach, followed by time in the sauna and around the campfire.

A chance to breathe in some sea air, warm up, chat, slow down and enjoy the changing light as autumn evening settles in.

I wanted this to be a really small group, so there are just 8 places available.

Thankful Thursday ✨

I’m feeling particularly thankful this week for the little signs that things are moving.

For conversations that open doors.
For people who say “yes, let’s see what we can do.”
For ideas that are slowly becoming real things.
For opportunities that I wouldn’t have had a year ago.

And for the people who believe in what I’m building — sometimes before I’m completely brave enough to believe in it myself. ❤️

There’s quite a lot taking shape behind the scenes at the moment, and I’m learning to recognise that progress doesn’t always look like a long list of things crossed off.

Sometimes it’s just a conversation, an email or a decision that nudges something forward.

And sometimes it’s realising that something which was once just an idea in your head is now actually happening. 🌱

So today, rather than worrying about everything still to do, I’m choosing to notice what is moving.

And I’m thankful for it.

What’s something — big or small — that you’re thankful for this week?

Hello September ✨️

Maybe it's because we're living in a caravan, but I've really noticed the shift towards autumn this week. Have you?

There's something about the changing of the seasons that makes me think about choice.

Not the huge, life-changing choices. The small ones that we make every day...

What we eat and drink.
What we spend our hard-earned pennies on.
How much we laugh in a day.
How silly or serious we are
Whether we get frustrated about the person driving in front of us. 😂

I've been thinking a lot about the choice between reacting and responding recently...

That tiny pause before we answer.

The moment where we can choose how we want to show up, rather than simply following an old pattern.

And I think the same applies as we move towards autumn.

We can choose to start looking after ourselves a little better.

Get outside more.
Make time for the things that make us feel good.
Listen when our bodies are asking us to slow down.
Prepare ourselves for the darker, colder months rather than simply waiting for them to arrive.

It doesn't have to be a huge change.

Sometimes it's just one small decision.

And then another.

Because ultimately, we have more choice than we sometimes realise.

So, as September begins, I'm asking myself:

**What small choice can I make today that will make my life work a little better for me?**

What about you? ✨️

Hello Monday ✨️

There are some days when you just need to get outside.....

A walk. A bit of fresh air. A dog at your feet. A chance to notice what's actually around you....

Life is busy for me right now so I've been finding my walks incredibly important, and my only job whilst I'm out is to notice what is around me.

Hedgerows full of rosehips and blackberries, elderberries beginning to appear, wildflowers, herbs and all sorts of little things that I've walked past a hundred times without really noticing.

There's something lovely about learning to look again.

And I'm reminded that so much of what we need for a good life isn't necessarily complicated or far away. Sometimes it's about knowing where to look, learning a new skill, sharing what we know with somebody else, or simply giving ourselves enough time to notice what's already there.

I've got a few ideas brewing around that for the weeks ahead... 🌿

But for now, I'm just enjoying being outside and seeing what's growing.

What have you noticed lately?

🌿 Thankful Thursday

I took the dogs out for an evening walk last night and found myself looking a little more closely at the hedgerows...

Rosehips, blackberries, elderberries and goodness knows what else — just growing quietly around us, providing food and shelter for so many different creatures....

It made me feel really grateful for the place we live 💗

There's something quite humbling about remembering that we're not the only ones making use of what's around us. The hedgerows, fields and woodland provide for life both above and below us, and somehow everything finds its place.

It made me think about balance, and about how much nature provides when we actually stop and notice it.

So today I'm thankful for the hedgerows, the wild food, the wildlife and the little reminder that we're part of something much bigger than ourselves. 🌿

What do you notice when you slow down and look a little closer?

Hello Choose-day ✨️

Have you ever found yourself really excited about something, only for it not to go quite the way you'd hoped? We've all been there at some point I'm sure....

That horrible little feeling of disappointment creeping in...

And then the stories start.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea.
Maybe I got it wrong.
Maybe I'm not good enough.
Maybe I should just give up.

It's so easy to get caught up in it and have a little wallow. And actually, sometimes we need to. We're allowed to be disappointed. We're allowed to feel sad when something doesn't go the way we wanted it to. Your feelings are 100% valid.

Read that again.... your feelings are 100% valid!

But then we have a choice, and this is where I've had to work hard to override my own natural pattern.

We can stay there, or we can decide what we're going to do with it.

We can take a step back and ask...

What can I learn from this?

Is there something I could do differently?

Does this actually mean what I'm telling myself it means?

Or maybe it just needs a little more time.

I think that's where our capability really starts to show.

Not in everything going perfectly, but in how we respond when it doesn't.

We don't always get to choose what happens.

But we do get to choose what we do next.

So if something hasn't gone quite the way you hoped recently, perhaps today is a good day to pause, feel whatever you need to feel... and then decide where you're going from here. 🧡

Happy Choose-day ✨️
