When you plan on two biscuits anddd somehow you’ve eaten the whole packet. Honestly, it’s not because you don’t have any willpower!
There’s a much bigger internal battle going on 🧠 The food noise, wanting to enjoy the taste, feeling hungry but then feeling “fat”, telling yourself you’ll reset tomorrow, getting frustrated because you always seem to end up back here; all while trying to get on with the rest of your life - it’s exhausting!!
This is exactly why I encourage my therapy clients to put intentional weight loss on the back burner (usually for the first time ever!). Not because weight loss is bad, but because it’s usually the biggest distraction from what’s actually keeping them stuck & often it’s even fuelling the overeating and emotional eating they’re trying so hard to stop.
I’m Alicia, a Body Image Therapist, trained in CBT and this is the work I do every day. We stop fighting the behaviour and instead understand what’s driving it. Because when you change what’s happening underneath, your whole relationship with food and your body changes too 😌
If you’ve found me recently and are interested in the therapy I offer, my website is in my bio & I’ve got space for two new clients at the moment 😃
It is possible to not define yourself by the size of your body 🤍
