Our AQP Physio Team recently had a leadership and team building day.

With an insight into Army Leadership as 350 Fd Sqn | 75 Engineer Regiment in a combined effort with LCHG Armed Forces Community Network presented a day of leadership in action, Lt Sleeman initially defining leadership followed by a talk from Capt Brazier on Leadership by health care professionals within the military across history. The team were then able to put learning into practice with a number of activities such as catapult building and command tasks.

The success of the day was able to emphasise the community aspect of the Armed Forces network with employees of the Health Service and Armed Forces being brought together to achieve a valuable day of learning and development.
The Leadership Day received an overall approval rating of 95% and was greatly enjoyed by those in attendance.

"I know I'm flexible, but I feel tight all the time."

At first glance, that sounds contradictory.
If a muscle is tight, surely it just needs stretching?
Not necessarily.
Muscles don't just create movement—they also help create stability.

For people with hypermobility, joints often move through larger ranges than average. To manage this, the muscles surrounding those joints may have to work harder to provide control and stability during everyday activities.

This doesn't mean stretching is "bad."
Many people find stretching feels good and can provide short-term symptom relief.
The key point is that feeling tight doesn't automatically mean a lack of flexibility is the problem.

Instead of asking:
"How can I get more flexible?"
it may be more useful to ask:
"How well can I control the range I already have?"

Do you consider yourself hypermobile? Have you experienced this feeling of being both flexible and stiff at the same time?

Hamstring tightness that is not relieved by stretching may not be shortened muscles. www.lincsphysio.nhs.uk

Cervical myelopathy isn’t “just neck pain.”
In mild cases, physiotherapy can help maintain strength, balance, and function — but only while symptoms remain stable.

Subtle changes like increasing hand clumsiness, reduced walking tolerance, or near-falls may signal spinal cord progression. That’s why conservative management requires active monitoring, not passive treatment.
