🎉 We’ve got some exciting news…

Modern Masculinity is now officially funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

This means that for the next two years, we’ve secured funding that will help us take the group to the next level and reach more men in our community.

So what does this mean in practice?

It allows us to invest in things like:
• Advertising and awareness so more men know we exist
• Roller banners, leaflets and business cards
• Growing and developing the group
• Giving us the time and capacity to work on opening more groups and new opportunities over the next 2 years

There are some really exciting things in the pipeline, and we can’t wait to share them with you as things develop.

But most importantly — the heart of Modern Masculinity remains the same.

Last night we had 13 men in the room, bringing us to 76 men through our doors in under 6 months, with 24 attending for the first time.

We also know that walking through the door for the first time can feel like the hardest step. That’s why we’re always happy to support beforehand — whether that’s chatting through social media, a phone call, or meeting beforehand to help break down those anxieties and barriers.

Modern Masculinity is more than just a men’s group.

It’s a place to talk, laugh, connect, and build something meaningful.

It’s a community.
It’s a brotherhood.

Mental health isn’t just for when everything’s on fire 🔥

Modern Masculinity isn’t just a place you come to when you’re struggling.

You don’t need a crisis.
You don’t need a breakdown.
You don’t need to “qualify.”

Sometimes it’s just about:

🎱 Having a game of pool
😂 Having a laugh
☕ Getting out of the house
💬 Talking about real stuff (if you want to)
🤝 Being around good lads

We’re not just a support group.

We’re a community.

A place to feel part of something.
To build proper friendships.
To have banter one minute and a deep chat the next.

Because brotherhood isn’t just for the hard times — it’s for life 👊🏼

Massive appreciation for the kind words — this is exactly what it’s all about. Creating a space where people can get out, connect, talk, and feel a bit lighter walking home.

Shoutout to Kristian, who officially facilitated the group for the first time on Tuesday and absolutely smashed it. 🙌
It’s class to see Modern Masculinity not only giving people a place to connect, but also giving people the chance to step up and give back too.

Quick reminder: you don’t need a special reason to check in on someone.
No big speech. No “fixing” required. Just a simple: “You alright, mate?” goes a long way.

How comfortable are you with vulnerability?

Be honest… where’s your slider at today? 😅
All the way to “nope, I’m fine mate”
Or creeping towards “actually… I might talk about it”?

Let’s be real — most of us are way better at joking things off, changing the subject, or saying “yeah all good” than actually saying what’s going on.

And that’s pretty normal.

But imagine if opening up didn’t have to be this big dramatic thing.
Just a bit more honest.
A bit less bottled up.
A bit more “yeah, today’s been a lot”.

That’s the vibe at Modern Masculinity.
No pressure. No fixing. No awkward therapy couches.
Just normal blokes, real chats, and a lot of nodding in agreement.

The cost of emotional suppression 🧱

A lot of us were taught to “just get on with it.”
Bite your tongue.
Push it down.
Crack on.

And for a while… it works.

Until it doesn’t.

Suppressed emotions don’t disappear.
They come out sideways — as anger, burnout, anxiety, numbness, distance, or self-destructive habits.

The cost isn’t just stress.
It’s strained relationships.
Poor sleep.
Short fuses.
Feeling disconnected from yourself and the people around you.

Strength isn’t pretending you’re fine.
Strength is being honest about what’s actually going on.

You don’t have to carry it all alone.
That’s literally why Modern Masculinity exists.

Emotional Intelligence 101 🧠💪

Being emotionally intelligent isn’t about having perfect control over your feelings.
It’s about understanding them — and using that understanding to navigate life better.

Here are the basics:

1️⃣ Self-awareness – Notice what you’re feeling, and name it.
2️⃣ Self-regulation – Pause before reacting. Choose your response instead of just letting it out.
3️⃣ Motivation – Know what drives you, beyond pressure or ego.
4️⃣ Empathy – Recognise what others are feeling, even if they don’t say it.
5️⃣ Social skills – Communicate clearly, listen deeply, and handle conflict without losing yourself.

These aren’t soft skills — they’re survival skills.
They make you a better friend, partner, brother, and leader.

Start small. Name your feelings today. Listen to someone without judging.
That’s where it begins.
