Friday is always a busy day for the FPP team!

Matty is out and about around the city to view potential new premises as we grow and diversify to meet needs and build on success.

Jess is exploring all things mindful self-care as part of our work with the female step-down service that we deliver in partnership with New Start Homes and You Matter. Then she’ll fly across the city to host our Concerned Others family support group this afternoon.

Becky is in town at Thrive Careers Hub, providing 121 health and wellbeing support for young people who are accessing job search support.

And I’m cracking on behind the scenes getting everything ready for the launch of our new website which is in the final stages of being built and will help us to streamline our referral process, reach even more people and spread the word about our socially progressive approach to mental health support!

So yeah, a busy day all round but we would have it any other way!

We provide anything from a cup of tea and a chat through to professional mental health support and this includes community groups, physical health interventions, education courses, wellbeing workshops and peer support.

Everything we do is free. We have no waiting lists. We have no excessive eligibility criteria. We exist to remove the barriers that typically prevent people from getting help.

If you or anyone you know is in need of support, or would like to attend any of our sessions, please get in touch!

Today was all about su***de prevention!

One of our regulars at the Thursday group recently came to us with an idea.

He was concerned and upset by the impact that mental health issues were having in his community.

He said that every day when walking his dog, he would chat to friends, neighbours and acquaintances and these conversations would nearly always come around to something mental health related.

He wanted to do something to help and had an idea about making signs, with positive messaging and crisis number hotlines, and putting them up in local spots that are known for su***de attempts.

So, we got everything he needed to make this happen. Last week, as a community, we swapped ideas for messages and made the signs. This week we went out together and put them up.

This is a beautiful thing on several levels.

More than anything, it’s just a lovely thing to see in action. This gentleman was upset about something happening in his neighbourhood and decided to do something about it!

His idea might just give a stranger something to think about when they need it most. It might inspire someone to do something similar and pay it forward again.

It gave our Thursday group something to get involved in and to be a part of. It gave us a creative project, a shared mission, a chance to do something good in the local area and an opportunity for a walk on a nice day.

It inspired conversations and gave people an opportunity to open up, share stories and listen to others do the same.

This is the true power of community; this is mental health action.

All of our sessions are informed and inspired by the people that come to them and mental health is at the heart of everything that we do.

If you would like to join us you would be welcome to do so. If you have any ideas you’d like to bring to the table then we would love to help you bring them to life.

Our Healthy Neighbours group meets every Thursday 10-13 in L4.

Any questions please get in touch!

Massive thank you to Asda and Joanne their Community Champion for the donation towards our community gardening project!

We are building something truly special in this space. Something that will benefit local residents, the wider community and beyond.

It’s also having an impact on the FPP community and our volunteers. It gives us something meaningful and fun to do. It’s a lovely way to come together, do something positive and make a difference.

Support like this from Asda really makes a difference and helps us push this project forwards.

Calling all gardeners!

We are part of a project in the north end of Liverpool called Healthy Neighbours.

We do a lot of things as part of this. We have groups, courses, a gym programme, 121 support, and other things too.

On Thursdays we are based on the Daneville estate in L4 from 10 until 13:00.

We are in the process of building our own community garden, a space to bring people together and we plan to hold some of our sessions there during the summer months.

We have a small team of volunteers and we also take action and solve problems for the people who live in the community.

We tidy gardens, sweep yards, strim lawns, move trees, plant flowers and anything else than needs to be done.

It’s a great way to help others and have a positive impact on the local area and it gives us something fun and useful to do.

It is really making a difference, so much so that we’ve got a lot to be getting on with and could use some extra hands!

If you’re a keen gardener, enjoy this type of work or are just looking to help others or just get involved with something different, we would love to hear from you!

We supply all the tools, equipment and safety gear. There’s no pressure, everyone does what they can or what they want to! We have plenty of breaks, get the music on and do our bit.

We meet every Thursday at our community flat at 18 Abingdon Grove, we start with a brew and a catch up and then get started.

If that sounds like something you’d like feel free to come along or simply message us through this page or email [email protected]

Any questions at all please get in touch!

Today we got off to a great start with our flagship course Fundamentally Healthy and here’s what we’ve got coming up over the next 6 sessions.

Today was week one and very much a general overview exploring what mental health is and what it means to the people in the room.

It’s all about learning from each other.

As always it was the conversations around the table that had the most impact. When education is delivered in this way it’s obvious to see what sharing and stories are considered to be on of the main building blocks of community.

Each week we’ll be looking at a different aspect and of mental health and opening up these vital conversations.

You’re more than welcome to join us on any Wednesday between 10-12 at our Lodge Lane hub.

The course is designed to work for you so you can come every week, jump on and off as it suits and start whenever you like.

Any questions just message through this page.

We are now 2 weeks in to our latest cohort of Fit & Focused and this lot are already flying!

From little to no gym experience-and all the anxieties that come with that - to navigating a gym, putting sessions together and getting it done.

This programme is designed to get people moving by focusing on the factors that get in the way.

We’ve simply made the process easier and a lot more fun by removing the usual barriers to exercise.

And we’ve wrapped it up in a supportive community who are on the journey and empowering each other along the way.

We could not be prouder of this programme and everyone on it!

We’ve got a couple of spaces available if you wanted to jump on and get started! Please message if you’re interested.

The session is 10-11 at Jeffrey Humble gym and we stay afterwards for coffee and a catch up if you’re interested fancy that too.

It’s free and free includes membership to the gym so you can go between sessions if you want and you get all the support, guidance and encouragement you need along the way.

Due to the numbers and the design of the project, booking is essential for this one.

On Friday’s we provide 121 mental health and wellbeing support at Thrive Careers Hub.

Thrive is a coffee shop and safe space where support workers and the young people they care for can meet, build relationships and access job search support.

Thrive offers specialist support for care experienced young people, access to laptops and digital tools, CV support and mock interview guidance, housing and debt support, legal advice, advocacy services and many other vital interventions that exist to connect young people in the Liverpool City Region to potential employers.

Our collaboration offers a specialist service, without excessive barriers or bureaucracy, and in a manner which takes the whole person, their story and surroundings into account.

Our work here isn’t counselling or therapy (although we can provide these things) it’s a safe space to talk, express, explore and connect. Through this process we can offer advice, support, coping strategies or simply a compassionate ear.

Together, we hope to reduce the impact of poor mental health across our young people, allowing them to lead more fulfilling, safer, happier lives.

We had a boss yesterday chatting all things FPP at Stanley Market!

It’s always great to be out in the community, chatting about what we do and it’s always incredible just how many people are interested in having conversations about mental health.

They might chat about their own, the health of a loved one, a neighbour or just mental health in general and it’s important and insightful for us to be a part of these conversations.

If you want to know what a community needs then you have to go that community and ask them.

That’s where we’re a bit different. We don’t do help TO people, we do it WITH people.

It’s one of the many parts of our socially progressive approach to mental health support that sets us apart.

We like to say we offer everything from a cup of tea and a chat through to professional mental health support.

And we do this through citizen led groups, education workshops, peer support, physical health interventions and plenty of other community focused projects.

Everything we offer is inspired by our community and the people who come along to our sessions.

All of our support, sessions and workshops are free, we have no waiting list, and all you have to do is turn up on the day.

If you’d like need some extra support getting through the door we can help with that too.

Just get in touch if you’d like to get involved or have any questions!

Fundamentally Healthy is our flagship mental health course.

Starting from Wednesday 13th May we’ll be delivering it from our hub on Lodge Lane, L8 at 10am-12pm.

Each week we explore a different aspect of mental health and wellbeing, covering things like stress, anxiety, self esteem, confidence, identity and community.

It’s not like a normal course. It’s not us TELLING you about your mental health.

It’s us ASKING you about your mental health and exploring the answers.

We use stories and lived experience combined with actionable steps and strategies to support you towards a fuller picture of mental wellbeing - whatever that picture looks like for you.

It’s free, you can start anytime and everyone is welcome!

If you’ve taken part before and would like a refresher, we’d love to see you again!

All you need to do is come along on the day.

And if you need a bit of extra support to get through the door just let us know, we’re always happy to support with whatever you need to get started.
