Most apps track your behaviour. Very few change it.

We’ve spent the last week refining Cura Tech down to what actually matters:

→ Small groups, not big networks
→ Accountability, not performance
→ Identity, not just data
→ Real-world connection, not just digital noise

This is how we’re building our MVP.

A Lunch Club with Dan Brewis (ex-Equinox UK MD)

We talked about:
– why people don’t just join gyms, they join identities
– how communities actually form (and why most fail)
– the gap between aspiration and accessibility
– what it takes to build environments that change behaviour

If Cura Build is going to work, it has to go beyond fitness.

It has to create the conditions for people to connect, grow, and hold each other to a higher standard.

Transitioning to CEO or MD from a peer group is tough. Many leaders grapple with the profound loneliness that comes with being at the top, especially when those around you were once colleagues. It's a unique challenge that impacts high-achievers.

We’ve never been more connected.
And yet, for many, never more alone.

This piece explores why — and what it would actually take to rebuild real community.

Drawing on Durkheim’s idea of *collective effervescence*, McMillan & Chavis’ framework for belonging, and what brand communities have quietly understood for decades, the conclusion is simple:

Community isn’t a feature.
It’s a system.

At Cura, we’re thinking about how that system shows up everywhere — in tech, in events, in spaces, and in the small daily rituals that turn strangers into something more.

This is the blueprint we’re working from.

I'm reflecting on a lunch guest I had - Tomas Fernandes, and the stories he told me of a place central to his identity, his training and his heart and art. Boisbuchet. It's is a place where people go to make.

Not to network. Not to perform. To build things with their hands, alongside others doing the same.

It got me thinking about Cura.

Could we build an estate like that — but for a wider definition of “creator”?

Artists. Designers. Founders. Technologists. Craftspeople. Teachers.

Not separated into tribes. Brought together by one thing: the act of creating.

There’s tension in that idea.

Creatives often want to be around other creatives. Identity matters. Standards matter.

But some of the most interesting things happen when worlds collide.

Artists with capital.
Technologists with philosophers.
Builders with storytellers.

The question isn’t “what are you?” It’s “what are you building?”

Cura should be a place for people who make, do, and create — in all forms.

Not defined by aesthetics. Defined by output.

Less labels. More building.

Strain doesn't change you. Recovery does.

This is one of the most evidence-dense findings in sports science — and it has almost nothing to do with sport. Every adaptive gain — strength, capacity, resilience, skill — happens in the rest period. The body (and the nervous system, and the mind) doesn't transform under load. It transforms during repair.

Yet we've built a culture — especially in founder and operator circles — that treats recovery as the gap between productive periods. The interlude before real work resumes.

This is exactly backwards.

research shows cognitive performance degrades measurably after 17-19 hours of wakefulness — yet we celebrate people who grind through. 's work on ikigai points to the role of restorative ritual in sustaining long-term motivation.

Recovery isn't passive. It's the mechanism.

At Cura, we believe that recovery is programme. Not downtime bolted onto intensity — a designed system that makes the intensity sustainable. We'll be planning our events and estates based on these principals. We need balance - create, train and reset. That's the triangle and each are equally important

What does your recovery infrastructure look like? Not your holiday. Your daily and weekly rhythm of restoration. If the answer is "I don't have one" — that's worth thinking about

The wellness world has made health feel complicated. We're here to change that.

Health is not a puzzle to solve or a standard to meet — it's something you already have the capacity for. At Cura, everything we build starts from that belief. Simple by design. Powerful in practice.

Rose Wylie embodies a kind of creative freedom that feels deeply aligned with Cura’s ethos. She creates outside of conventional timelines, building a body of work rooted in curiosity, persistence, and lived experience rather than external validation. In this way, she isn’t just an artistic reference—she’s a signal of the kind of creative and personal agency Cura Grow seeks to cultivate.

Melody is a photographer, creative director, and yoga teacher who grew up in the French Alps and trained in ballet for twelve years. What struck me most in our conversation was her idea that creativity and nervous-system regulation are deeply connected.
