Small acts of kindness go a long way during Volunteers' Week. 💙

During Volunteers’ Week, we were delighted to welcome Maddison to Walton House in Leven as part of her Rainbows Family Volunteering Club’s Big High Five Challenge.

As one of her challenges, Maddison created handmade cards designed to brighten someone’s day. Rosie, Muriel, John and Anne were thrilled to receive one of her beautiful creations, each carefully made with a thoughtful message inside.

The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all. Thank you, Maddison, for sharing your creativity and helping to make our day a little brighter. ✨ And thank you to all the volunteers out there, brightening people's lives every day.

🌱💚 A Wonderful Afternoon of Community Connection 💚🌱

We were delighted to welcome the children from Crossgates Primary School After School Club to Craigie House recently for a special visit with our residents.

There was plenty of laughter as everyone enjoyed a good chat together, and the children kept us entertained with some fantastic jokes that certainly raised a few smiles! 😊

As a lovely surprise, the children also donated a selection of beautiful plants for our garden. Their kindness and generosity will help brighten our outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy throughout the summer months.

Bringing generations together, creating friendships, sharing stories, and strengthening the connections that make our community so special have such value in care settings and it was so evident in Craigie House.

A huge thank you to everyone at Crossgates Primary School After School Club for visiting us and for your thoughtful gift. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon! 🌼🌿

🧀🍷 Say Cheese – It’s National Cheese Day! 🍷🧀

Yesterday (4th June) was National Cheese Day, and at Methven House in Kirkcaldy we thought there was only one sensible way to celebrate – with a delicious cheese and wine pairing experience! 🧀✨🍷

Residents enjoyed sampling a variety of cheeses, sharing their favourites, and chatting about memories of family gatherings, special occasions, and much-loved recipes. There was plenty of laughter around the room, and the verdict was unanimous – more cheese please!

In fact, our residents were so satisfied that they've already suggested we make it a much more regular event... and who are we to argue with that? 😊

Moments of good food, good company and shared experiences help create a real sense of home and enrich everyday life in our homes.

⚽🏆 We'd heard there was a big football match involving Scotland this June... so we thought we'd better make sure we were part of the action too! 😄

The real football excitement for us took place at the Fit-Baw World Cup Festival at the Regional Football Centre in Toryglen, where Team Beechwood proudly represented the home with a squad of six players from across our units.

After months of dedication, determination and plenty of laughs at our weekly Fitbaw sessions, our team took part in a round-robin tournament against teams from across Scotland. All that training certainly paid off as our fantastic players battled their way to an incredible 2nd place finish! 🥈⚽

Most importantly, the day was filled with teamwork, friendship, encouragement and a shared love of the beautiful game. We couldn't be prouder of everyone who took part and represented Beechwood with such enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

A huge well done to all our players, supporters and staff who helped make the day such a success. We may not have lifted the trophy this time, but we certainly won plenty of smiles along the way! 💙

🌞 Sunshine, Singing and Community Spirit at Fernlea House🌞

What a fantastic week we had at Fernlea House Care Home in Cardenden, filled with laughter, friendship and plenty of reasons to smile.

From enjoying the beautiful weather in our garden with music and singing, to exciting bingo games, coffee mornings and a special pamper session, there has been something for everyone to enjoy. We also loved cheering on local young people at the school's football tournament, supporting our community from the sidelines. ⚽🎶☕

The week ended on an especially heartwarming note as we were invited to The Goth Pub in Kinglassie, where an incredible fundraising effort raised an amazing £1,500 which has already provided a range of outdoor benches and tables for the residents to enjoy this summer; creating even more opportunities for residents to spend time outdoors, socialise with friends and family, and make the most of our garden spaces. ❤️.

A very special thank you goes to everyone at The Goth for their generosity and support.

It's a wonderful example of how strong community connections can make a real difference, helping us continue to enrich lives and create meaningful moments together.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so memorable. 🌻

😊 A smile is a powerful thing. 😊
Today, on National Smile Day, we're celebrating the power of a smile in boosting positivity, reducing stress and spreading happiness.

In a world where we're often reminded of life's challenges, a smile remains one of the simplest ways to lift a mood, brighten a day and remind someone they're not alone. So, across Holmes Care Group we've been passing smiles from home to home, sharing warmth, friendship and joy.

💗 Today, we'd love you to join in.
Share a smile with someone. A family member, friend, neighbour, colleague, or even a stranger you pass in the street. You never know how much impact that small gesture might have.

And if someone makes you smile today, tell us about it in the comments. Let's see how far a smile can travel.

💗😊
