As part of our focus on the Reframing Autism Welcome Pack, we wanted to share this thoughtful reflection from Jenny Mitchell about how receiving an Autism diagnosis can make a positive difference in various aspects of your life. 💫

We recognise that not everyone is able to access a formal diagnosis for a range of reasons. For many people, self-identification can be equally meaningful in nurturing self-acceptance and opening the door to a connection with the Autistic community.

Every journey is valid, whether it be through formal diagnosis or self-identification. What matters most is finding the knowledge and community that help you make sense of your experiences and embrace who you are. 🌼

Sometimes you can go about your day for years, feeling completely fine - while high blood pressure quietly strains your heart, damages blood vessels and stresses your kidneys.

The good news: prevention and control are possible.

Early diagnosis, access to affordable high blood pressure medicines and healthy daily habits can greatly lower these risks.

A groundbreaking study reveals medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States.

An analysis by Johns Hopkins researchers Martin Makary and Michael Daniel estimates that approximately 251,454 deaths per year in the United States are associated with medical errors. This staggering figure ranks medical errors behind only heart disease and cancer as the nation's third leading cause of death.

Despite this massive toll on patient safety, these systemic and human mistakes remain largely invisible in national health statistics, hiding a severe public health crisis in plain sight.

The underlying issue stems from how the U.S. death-reporting system compiles mortality statistics. Official systems rely heavily on ICD-coded causes of death, which are primarily designed for billing rather than tracking national health outcomes. Because there is no standard code for medical errors or system failures, these fatal events are routinely classified under other physiological causes on death certificates, keeping them entirely out of the official rankings and hindering national healthcare reform.

Too often, Autistic people are made to feel that they need to mask, camouflage or change who they are to be accepted.

But genuine connection isn't built on hiding the real you. It's built on being seen, valued and celebrated for who you are.

The people who matter won't connect with a version of you that's shaped by expectation. They'll connect with the real you. Sometimes its difficult to find those people, so keep looking if you haven't found them yet.

Everyone deserves relationships where authenticity is welcomed, differences are respected, and belonging doesn't come at the cost of being yourself. 💫 💛
