I'm really looking forward to being back at the World Yoga Festival next weekend!

I've been a regular at the festival since 2022, and once again joining the Children's Tent in the Family Area, where I'll be leading some Reflex Yoga Therapy movement games on Friday 31st July.

If you're bringing little ones along, do come and say hello – we'll be exploring movement through fun, play, and connection in a way that's suitable for children of all abilities.

Spent some time at the Wye Valley Wellness Festival in Tintern today, organised by Wye Valley Wellness. It was fantastic to connect with fellow wellness enthusiasts, meet some lovely new people, and catch up with some familiar faces.

I also treated myself to a relaxing reflexology session with Nicola from Inner Belief, gained some valuable insights from Thor at First Aid for Feelings, and joined an energising breathwork session led by Dean from The Conscious Breath.

A wonderful day filled with connection, learning, and a reminder of the incredible wellbeing community in the local area.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!!!

The summer holidays have arrived and can be a stressful (and expensive!) time when looking to entertain the family. Here are a few mindful activities my family enjoy – I’d love to see your photos if you give any of these a go!

• Go on a nature mindfulness walk. Notice five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can touch, two you can smell, and one you can taste (if it's safe to do so!).
• Create a nature mandala using leaves, flowers, stones, and twigs.
• Practice gratitude together. At the end of each day, take turns sharing three things you're thankful for.
• Play with mindful breathing. Blow bubbles and encourage little ones to take slow, gentle breaths to make the biggest bubbles.
• Enjoy a quiet story time outdoors. Find a shady spot, switch off devices, and simply be present together.

What are your favourite ways to slow down and enjoy the summer holidays?

On one of our walks, Jack spotted something that made us stop and look a little closer...
..he can see a handprint in this rock.

Whether it's a handprint, a pattern shaped by nature over thousands of years, or simply imagination at work, it reminded me that when we slow down, we begin to notice the little things.

Time in nature is an important part of Jack's regulation, giving us chance to breathe, move, observe, and connect.

Mindfulness doesn't have to mean sitting still. It can be as simple as noticing the colours on a rock, listening to birdsong, feeling the breeze, or wondering what shapes you can see in nature.

So... what do you see in this rock?

My reflex yoga therapy journey:

I became interested in yoga in 2017 when my eldest son Jack was recommended yoga classes to help him regulate as he has autism.

There were, however, no suitable classes in our local area that would be able to accommodate us.

I therefore began training as reflex yoga instructor with Yotism (Yoga for Autism), and completed my yoga teacher training for in 2020. Reflex yoga is a style of yoga which combines traditional hatha yoga and mindfulness with reflex integration therapy.

Over time, I began to see the benefits of reflex integration within the yoga practice, and decided to train with RMTi (Reflex Movement Therapy International) to be able to deepen my understanding and utilise the benefits of this practice more fully, qualifying in 2024.

Given my experiences with neurodiversity within my own family, including my own diagnosis this year, I particularly enjoy working with those with additional needs.

I found that customising my approach to the individual means the best possible outcomes for the client, and so draw upon techniques found in yoga, mindfulness, reflex therapy, reiki, and massage to promote better mental health and wellness for everyone.
