My daughter has just turned 1 and has had a bedtime story read to her every single night. Which means she has had over 397 bedtime stories read to her. That's not including the books we read during the day. Some nights we even squeeze in two stories before bed.
Reading to your child is one of the best ways to support language development, communication skills and a love of books from an early age.
But for me, it's about more than that. It's the cuddles, the routine, the connection, the few minutes in the day where everything slows down.
In the UK, according to the less than half of parents with children aged 0–5 read with their child every day. One story a day might not feel like much, but those little moments soon add up 💜
