Forever grateful to the selfless individuals at The Social Counselling Collective for constantly seeking ways to help our community. If you or someone you know may benefit from this, please spread the word, and make use of this opportunity to seek help 🙏🏻

Thanks to the amazing Nanty Pharmacy we're starting something new this month. We've been talking with staff from ARC because we know that people need different types of support for their mental health at different times. So we've teamed up to make accessing help and support in this area a little easier. Now, whether you want to see a Counsellor to talk to OR if you are looking for Mental Health advice and guidance we have someone available on the last Wednesday of each month.

To book call or text us - we'll respond as soon as we can, or come along on Wednesday afternoon between 1&2pm - we'll do our best to see you that day.

We've seen quite a few nasty insect bites recently - with the weather heating up, they've been enjoying the sun as much as we have ☀️
Here are some tips on how to prevent and manage insect bites and stings, so you can enjoy the warm weather 😊

✋🏻 Prevention ✋🏻
✅ Use an insect repellant containing at least 50% DEET and reapply through the day if you are sweating
✅ Keep skin covered and be aware that brightly coloured clothing can attract insects

❤️‍🩹 Management ❤️‍🩹
✅ Put an ice pack wrapped in a cloth, or a clean cloth soaked in cold water, on the bite or sting for at least 20 minutes, if it's swollen
✅ Keep the area raised if you can
take painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen if the sting is painful
✅ Use antihistamines to relieve any itching (but do not use antihistamine cream if you had caterpillar hairs on your skin)
✅ Use hydrocortisone cream to reduce itching and swelling
❌ DO NOT scratch the bite or sting, as it could get infected
❌ DO NOT use home remedies such as bicarbonate of soda to treat the bite or sting

🌟 A huge congratulations to our soon-to-be NEW addition to the team, Seren! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to share that Seren has passed her GPhC registration exam with flying colours, and is officially a qualified pharmacist 🥳💊

From next month, Seren will be joining our pharmacy family as our newest pharmacist.

You'll be able to find her:
📍 Nanty Pharmacy – Monday to Wednesday
📍 Tynewydd Pharmacy – Thursday
📍 Caerau Pharmacy – Every other Friday

Many of our patients may already recognise Seren from her time working as a student over the past few years at Caerau Pharmacy. It's been wonderful to watch her develop, and we're delighted to welcome her back in her new role.

Seren is an enthusiastic and dedicated young pharmacist who is excited to build her prescribing portfolio, helping us to further expand and enhance the services we provide to our communities.

We feel extremely lucky that she has picked to start her journey as a pharmacist with us - she is undoubtedly an excellent addition to the team and we are certain she will shine 🌟

Please join us in congratulating Seren on this fantastic achievement and wishing her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter. We can't wait to see the positive impact she'll make! 💚👏

The road directly outside the pharmacy will be inaccessible by car today between the hours of 9:30am and 3:30pm. You will be able to park nearby and walk to the pharmacy, but please be aware that your journey may take longer than usual.
Please also refrain from walking on any new tarmac until it is dry - your shoes will not thank you!

Can you believe this weather!? ☀️😮
We've seen a good few heat rashes (also known as prickly heat) this week - here is some handy info on how to avoid and treat it 🥵
Take care this week to keep protected from the sun and keep cool 🔥

If you're passing and need some respite, we've got air con in the shop, and are happy to provide cups of water, so feel free to come in to cool down ❄️

The Social Counselling Collective are with us this afternoon - if you're coming to see them, be conscious that our upstairs rooms do not have air conditioning - we will set up fans, provide water, and block windows to do our best to combat the heat, but please be aware it will likely be warm, so dress accordingly - we will do our best to accommodate with the resources we have 💚
