Letâs be honest, most of us are in a long-term relationship with our phones. But your ovaries, s***m, hormones, and Liver system are not enjoying the thirdâwheel energy.
Your eyes are exhausted â and in TCM, that means your Liver is too.
In TCM, the eyes are the window of the Liver. Hours of scrolling drains Liver Blood and Yin, creates Heat, and stagnates Qi. This can show up as PMS, irregular cycles, low libido, poor sleep, and stress hormones running the show.
Tired eyes â tired Liver â tired hormones.
Blue light lowers melatonin
Modern science shows that evening screen time suppresses melatonin, one of the most important antioxidants for egg and s***m quality. Low melatonin means poorer sleep, higher inflammation, and more oxidative stress on reproductive cells.
Stress chemistry goes wild
Constant notifications and doomâscrolling keep your nervous system in âfightâorâscrollâ mode. Cortisol rises, reproductive hormones wobble, ovulation becomes shy, and s***m quality can dip.
In TCM terms: Shen becomes scattered, Qi gets stuck, and the Kidneys (your fertility batteries) get drained.
Sitting still creates stagnation
Long screen sessions reduce pelvic blood flow. Blood flow matters for follicle development, endometrial lining, and s***m production. TCM calls this Qi and Blood stagnation â and your reproductive organs feel it.
Lateânight scrolling disrupts your body clock
Screens at night confuse your circadian rhythm. Your body clock regulates reproductive hormones like FSH, LH, progesterone, testosterone, insulin, and thyroid hormones. If sleep is off, hormone balance is off.
Bottom line
Screens arenât evil â but your fertility is not a fan of 24/7 blueâlight romance. A little less scrolling, especially at night, gives your Liver, hormones, eggs, s***m, and nervous system the breathing space they need to do their best work.
I support fertility clients every day, and itâs amazing how much the small things matter. This is one of those small things â and your body will appreciate the breakâ¨
