Let’s be honest, most of us are in a long-term relationship with our phones. But your ovaries, s***m, hormones, and Liver system are not enjoying the third‑wheel energy.

Your eyes are exhausted — and in TCM, that means your Liver is too.
In TCM, the eyes are the window of the Liver. Hours of scrolling drains Liver Blood and Yin, creates Heat, and stagnates Qi. This can show up as PMS, irregular cycles, low libido, poor sleep, and stress hormones running the show.
Tired eyes → tired Liver → tired hormones.

Blue light lowers melatonin
Modern science shows that evening screen time suppresses melatonin, one of the most important antioxidants for egg and s***m quality. Low melatonin means poorer sleep, higher inflammation, and more oxidative stress on reproductive cells.

Stress chemistry goes wild
Constant notifications and doom‑scrolling keep your nervous system in “fight‑or‑scroll” mode. Cortisol rises, reproductive hormones wobble, ovulation becomes shy, and s***m quality can dip.
In TCM terms: Shen becomes scattered, Qi gets stuck, and the Kidneys (your fertility batteries) get drained.

Sitting still creates stagnation
Long screen sessions reduce pelvic blood flow. Blood flow matters for follicle development, endometrial lining, and s***m production. TCM calls this Qi and Blood stagnation — and your reproductive organs feel it.

Late‑night scrolling disrupts your body clock
Screens at night confuse your circadian rhythm. Your body clock regulates reproductive hormones like FSH, LH, progesterone, testosterone, insulin, and thyroid hormones. If sleep is off, hormone balance is off.

Bottom line
Screens aren’t evil — but your fertility is not a fan of 24/7 blue‑light romance. A little less scrolling, especially at night, gives your Liver, hormones, eggs, s***m, and nervous system the breathing space they need to do their best work.

I support fertility clients every day, and it’s amazing how much the small things matter. This is one of those small things — and your body will appreciate the break✨

Even in hot weather, warm water is more supportive for your digestion. In TCM, the Spleen and Stomach prefer warmth, and keeping the system warm helps everything function smoothly.

Warm water keeps digestion relaxed, helps energy move easily around the body, and prevents the body from having to generate extra internal heat to rebalance itself.

Cold water does the opposite. It creates a brief shock response, makes the stomach contract, slows digestion and forces it to work harder to return to its optimal temperature.

Warm water for the win — even on the hottest days.

This 70‑year‑old woman came to clinic with 2 years of constant burning in her legs, difficulty standing, disrupted sleep, and long‑term Gabapentin use.
After a course of acupuncture with targeted lifestyle and dietary interventions, she is now pain‑free and off medication.

✨ CLEAR SKIN! ✨
Traditional Chinese Medicine - Standing the
Test of Time✨

This 60‑year‑old client presented with severe psoriasis. Dermatology had recommended Methotrexate and Cyclosporin - strong immunosuppressants that can carry significant side effects.

For two years, she had to keep her hands dressed and wear gloves most of the time. Getting them wet was agony, and even simple daily tasks - like doing the dishes, became impossible.

Her daughter contacted me to explore whether a different approach might help.

With consistent treatment - regular acupuncture, carefully adjusted TCM herbal medicine, and tailored lifestyle advice, her skin cleared.

Improvement extended well beyond her hands, as energy lifted week by week, and she described feeling younger, fitter and more herself again.

A great example of what can happen when the body’s own healing mechanisms are supported rather than suppressed ✨

✨ Moxibustion on ST36

A ritual I practise between clients. A few minutes of gentle moxa on ST36 (Zusanli) has well-documented benefits — both in modern research and in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Scientifically, ST36 moxa has been shown to:
✨ Support immunity — helps regulate immune responses and overall resilience.
✨ Improve digestion — supports healthy gut motility and digestive comfort.
✨ Lift mood & energy — influences the nervous system, easing stress and restoring vitality.
✨ Enhance metabolic warmth — gently increases core warmth and supports healthy metabolic function.
✨ Boost circulation & aid recovery - improves local blood flow and supports tissue repair.

From a TCM perspective:
ST36 is the great harmoniser — a point that strengthens Qi, nourishes the Spleen and Stomach, warms the Yang, and builds long‑term resilience. Moxa here replenishes the body’s internal “fire,” supporting digestion, immunity, emotional steadiness, and overall vitality.

Did you know that GPs can refer directly to members, ensuring patients receive safe, evidence‑based care?

I’m proud to be one of the few BAcC‑registered acupuncturists in Northern Ireland. Many health insurers also recognise BAcC membership, meaning clients may be able to claim back their treatment costs.

❄️Winter Wellness in TCM❄️

It’s no surprise that so many people feel run‑down at this time of year. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, winter belongs to the Water element and is deeply connected to the Kidney system — the body’s “battery” that governs our energy reserves, resilience, and immunity.
Just like nature, we’re meant to move into a season of rest, repair, and recharge. Slower days, deeper nourishment, more stillness.

But in reality?
Most people are rushing, stressed, and stretched thin in the lead‑up to Christmas — and that’s when the immune system starts to wobble.

This video shares simple ways to protect your energy, support your Kidney system, and stay well through the winter months. Small shifts make a big difference.
