You the patient are always in control of your treatment, if you are not comfortable with what or how I'm doing something then just say and we can change it up and do it another way - it shouldn't have to hurt to help!!

Ok so I know some of you like it to hurt just a little bit, but it doesn't have to!!

Time for another feel good Friday post

The SIJ or to give it its full name the sacroiliac joint can be a right pain in the back!

It is probably the most common acute cause of back pain that I see and treat in the clinic. Often brought on by something fairly small and innocuous like picking up a shopping bag or just turning to reach for something!

When they give you pain, boy do they give you pain!! Sharp stabbing pain in the base of you spine, usually to one side that hurts with pretty much any movement. Usually you wont get pain all the way down your leg but some people will get pain down the back or the side of the leg down to about the knee. Pain can also sometimes be felt into the groin, more so in men.

Thankfully these kind of issues usually respond pretty well and fairly quickly to treatment. Normally 2-3 treatments will do the job but I have occasional had people hobble in and walk back out again almost pain free from just one treatment !!
