Nexplanon implants are now certified for 5 years instead of 3.

Nexplanon, the contraceptive implant, is now licensed for up to five years of contraceptive use in the UK, extending the previous three-year licence.

This means that people who already have a Nexplanon implant can generally continue to rely on it for contraception for up to five years from the date it was inserted, rather than having it routinely replaced after three years.

The change is supported by evidence showing that the implant remains highly effective during the fourth and fifth years of use, providing an important benefit by reducing the number of replacement appointments and procedures needed.

The NHS confirms that the contraceptive implant is over 99% effective when used correctly and replaced at the recommended time. For further information please see links below:

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry that your appointment had to be cancelled at short notice due to our Practice Nurse being unwell. We appreciate that this can be frustrating and inconvenient and we apologise for any disruption caused.

The Big Conversation on Care 🏩

The Big Conversation on Care, led by Baroness Louise Casey’s Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, is a national opportunity for people to share their views about the future of adult social care in England.

It asks important questions about what care should look like, who should receive support and how it should be funded. The public is being encouraged to take part and help shape the Commission’s work.

Adult social care is closely connected to primary care. GPs and practice teams regularly support older people, people living with disabilities, carers and families who need help navigating care and support services.

The Commission describes this as a major public conversation and stresses that public involvement is essential to getting the future of adult social care right.

The car park attached to the surgery has always been for staff only, however we are happy for those with mobility issues to be dropped at the door when needed.

Due to the very small size of the car park in relation to our staff, it is often not possible for patients to park in the carpark. All of our staff are part time and there is a lot of movement in and out of the car park at various times.

We have to ensure that staff can leave and arrive safely, that our deliveries of drugs can also access the building in a safe and timely manner.

If there is a space that won't impact the DR getting to a home visit, an emergency vehicle, deliveries or staff needing to to arrive or leave for a shift, then please do use the carpark.

Due to access issues we cannot have anyone parking right outside the door for anything other than drop off unfortunately.

We would happily support traffic calming measures or crossings that the village may like to introduce as Bosbury Road is difficult for all users.
