🌿 Introducing The Wellens Bereavement Support Group 🌿

Bereavement & Community Support

Here at S. Wellens Funeral Directors we know that our care for families shouldn’t end when the funeral does. ❤️

Grief can be a lonely journey and sometimes it can help simply to sit with people who understand.

That’s why we’re delighted to introduce The Wellens bereavement support group. A welcoming, informal support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of someone they love.

🕯️ A place to remember, share, listen and find support.

There will be no pressure to talk, no expectation to have the right words and no judgement. You can share your memories, talk about how you’re feeling, listen to others, or simply enjoy a cup of tea and some company.

Each month we’ll explore different aspects of bereavement, from coping with anniversaries and difficult dates, to loneliness, memories, relationships and finding ways to remember those we’ve lost.

And, importantly, there will always be room for laughter as well as tears. ❤️

📅 When?

The last Wednesday of every month
🕑 17:30pm

📍 S. Wellens Funeral Directors
121 Long Street
Middleton
M24 6DL

The group will be free to attend, and everyone who has experienced bereavement is welcome.

You don’t have to be a current or former Wellens family, this is a space for our whole community.

If you’ve been struggling with loss, perhaps feel a little alone, or simply want somewhere to come and remember your loved one with others who understand, we’d love to welcome you.

You don’t have to walk through grief alone. ❤️

“Please feel free to share this post with anyone who you think may benefit from joining us. ❤️

💙 Supporting Paul’s Time to Talk Walk 💙

At S. Wellens Funeral Directors, we were privileged to care for Paul and his family during an incredibly difficult time.

Paul was someone who truly believed in the power of conversation. Last year, he placed messages of hope on the Victoria Avenue motorway bridge, reminding people that they were never alone and that it’s always okay to ask for help. He was the kind of person whose phone was always on for anyone who needed a listening ear.

Tragically, in May this year, Paul lost his own battle with mental health.

To honour his birthday and the incredible legacy he leaves behind, Paul’s family and friends are inviting everyone to take part in Paul’s Time to Talk Walk, a day dedicated to remembering Paul, encouragingly conversation, and raising awareness that no one should have to face life’s struggles alone.

💙 How you can get involved:

🚶 Full Walk
Meet at The Lancashire Fold at 10:30am for an 11:00am start.

🏟️ Etihad Lap
Unable to complete the full walk? Join the group at the Etihad Stadium at approximately 1:00pm–1:30pm for a lap of the stadium and a visit to the memorial garden.

🚶‍♂️ Etihad & Return Walk
Take part in the stadium lap, memorial garden stop, and the return walk back to The Lancashire Fold.

💙 Celebrate Paul’s Life
If you’re unable to join the walk, you’re warmly invited to The Lancashire Fold from 4:00pm to share memories, celebrate Paul’s life, and continue the conversation that meant so much to him.

Every conversation matters. Sometimes, simply asking someone “Are you okay?” can make all the difference.

If this event encourages even one person to reach out for support, then Paul’s message will continue to live on.

Please share this post to help spread awareness and support Paul’s family as they honour his memory. 💙

Today our Funeral Director Anthony was at Manchester Crematorium and came across something that truly stopped him in his tracks. ❤️

A simple white postbox… but one with an extraordinary purpose.

It’s called “Letters To A Loved One” a place where anyone can write a letter to someone they miss, someone they love, someone they wish they could speak to just one more time.

There are so many words we never get the chance to say. Sometimes it’s “I miss you.” Sometimes it’s “I’m sorry.” Sometimes it’s simply telling them about your day, sharing family news, or letting them know they’ll never be forgotten.

This beautiful idea gives people a quiet moment to put those thoughts onto paper. While we know the letters won’t physically reach those we’ve lost, somehow writing them can bring comfort, healing and a feeling of connection that words alone can’t explain.

Whoever had the vision to create this should be incredibly proud. It’s a gentle reminder that love doesn’t end when someone dies it simply finds new ways to be expressed.

If you ever visit Manchester Crematorium, take a moment to stop by this little postbox. You may be surprised by just how much a letter can help lighten a heavy heart. ❤️

“We write our words with love so true. Sealed with memories, sent to you.” 🕊️💌

One of the hardest things we see as funeral directors isn’t the arrangements…

It’s the uncertainty..

Families sitting together saying,

“I don’t know what Mum would have wanted.”
“Did Dad ever mention burial or cremation?”
“What music would he have chosen?”

Planning ahead isn’t about buying a “package”.
It isn’t about ticking boxes

It’s about telling your family YOUR story 📖

It’s choosing the music that means something 🎶🎻

It’s deciding who leads the service. 🙏🏼✝️

It’s making sure the practical details like cremation or burial fees are taken care of.
It’s lifting financial pressure from the people you love most.

Our attended funeral plans allow you to record your wishes clearly, thoughtfully, and personally not as a number, not as a standard option, but as you ❤️

And when the time comes, your family won’t be left guessing.

They’ll simply be able to grieve, and remember.

If you’d ever like a quiet, no pressure chat about planning ahead, our door is always open and kettle always on ☕️🫖

Because real peace of mind doesn’t come from a brochure.
It comes from knowing everything’s been done with care ❤️

Call us on 0161 643 2677 and one of our experienced funeral plan consultants will be happy to chat 📞
