A Heart-Breaking Appeal for Our Brother Ali Alshmari ♥️♥️♥️
Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating and tragic loss of Ali Alshmari, just 30 years old, who was fatally stabbed on 3rd March outside a primary school on Bridge Road, Alum Rock.
Ali arrived in the UK in 2025 from Iraq as a student, carrying nothing but hope in his heart and dreams of building a better future. Like so many who travel far from home, he came with the intention of working hard, studying, and making his family proud.
But Ali’s life had already known deep pain.
Ali lost his father when he was very young.
Those who knew him say he loved his father deeply and missed him every single day of his life. Growing up without his father left a space in his heart that never truly healed.
Perhaps that is why Ali remained so devoted to his family — especially his mother.
Ali was the youngest child in the family, the baby of the home. The one a mother holds onto a little longer. The one whose voice fills the house with laughter. The one whose safety a mother worries about the most.
And today… that same mother is living a nightmare no parent should ever experience.
Her heart is shattered. Completely shattered.
The son she carried for nine months…
The son she raised after losing his father…
The youngest child she protected with every prayer…
Has been taken from her.
Instead of hearing his voice again…
She has received the call that every parent fears.
Her son will never come home.
She cannot hold him one last time.
She cannot kiss his forehead.
She cannot stand beside him to say goodbye.
Her beloved son died alone in a foreign country, thousands of miles away from the arms that raised him.
Ali had no family here in the UK.
No mother beside him.
No father to carry his Janazah.
No brothers or sisters to weep over him.
Just a young man who came here with hope… whose life was cruelly and suddenly taken.
No one deserves to leave this world alone.
This is where qbal and Sons Bereavement Services step forward in moments like this. When someone has no family here, we become the family. We refuse to let anyone be forgotten and ensure every soul receives a dignified Janazah and burial.
But we cannot do this without the support of our community.
Today we are urgently appealing from the bottom of our hearts for donations to help cover Ali’s funeral and burial costs, so that this young man — someone’s beloved son, someone’s youngest child — can be laid to rest with dignity, honour, and prayers.
