Rounding off my Scottish islands adventure with a few final stops that felt like the perfect ending.

Crossing the Bridge over the Atlantic onto the beautiful Isle of Seil. Standing at the top of Dunadd, once the capital of the ancient kingdom of Dál Riata, and placing my foot in the carved footprint where kings are said to have been inaugurated over 1,000 years ago. A small moment that somehow makes history feel incredibly real.

Then on to the picture perfect town of Inveraray, nestled on the shores of Loch Fyne, before the journey home.

I have loved every minute of this trip.

From Oban to Mull, Ulva, Iona, Seil and beyond, it has been a wonderful mix of breathtaking scenery, fascinating history and moments of complete peace.

There is something grounding about standing in places where generations before us have lived, travelled and left their mark. It reminds us how fleeting our own time is, but also how connected we are to those who came before and those who will follow.

Scotland has a way of slowing you down, inviting you to look up, breathe deeply and simply appreciate where you are.

Until next time…

After a week in court, Saturday begins with a reset.

Movement. Balance. Equilibrium.

A little space to breathe before embracing whatever the weekend may bring.

There is healing in the first sip of tea.

There is peace in a deep breath.

There is strength in choosing yourself, even for a few quiet moments each day.

Let today be a reminder that the smallest rituals often create the greatest transformation.

Sweet, aromatic and wonderfully versatile, fennel has been treasured for centuries as a herb that gently supports digestion and overall wellbeing.

Medicinal Benefits

Traditionally, fennel has been used to ease bloating, wind and digestive discomfort after meals. It is also valued for its soothing effect on the digestive system and has long been used to support healthy digestion and gentle detoxification. Rich in antioxidants, fennel is also a source of vitamins and minerals that contribute to everyday wellbeing.

Traditional Uses

Fennel seeds are commonly enjoyed as a herbal infusion after meals to support comfortable digestion. Their naturally sweet, liquorice like flavour also makes them a favourite ingredient in herbal tea blends, cooking and natural remedies.

Folklore

In folklore, fennel was believed to offer protection, courage and strength. It was often hung above doorways to ward off negative energy and was carried by travellers for good fortune and safe journeys. Ancient cultures also associated fennel with vitality and longevity, believing it helped to renew both body and spirit.

Nature reminds us that even the simplest herbs can offer extraordinary support when we take time to appreciate their gifts.

Despite its name, tonight’s Strawberry Moon isn’t pink or red. The name comes from Native American traditions, marking the time when wild strawberries were ready to be harvested.

I love that. A moon named not for how it looks, but for what is happening in nature.

This year’s moon is a little different. It will appear unusually low in the sky, giving it a beautiful golden, amber glow as it rises. It’s also a micromoon, meaning it’s actually a little farther away from Earth than usual. Funny how something can seem so big and beautiful, even when it’s more distant.

If the skies are clear tonight, take a few minutes to step outside, look up, and enjoy it.

Sometimes, that’s all we need.

Today, pause for a few moments.

Feel the warmth of your cup.
Notice the breeze.
Listen to the birds.
Take one slow, deep breath.

The smallest moments often become the ones that restore us the most.

My court work is often difficult and challenging. There are mornings when it can be hard to get up, get in the car, and drive into the city, not quite knowing what the day ahead will bring.

Yet every day this week, something has lifted my spirits on the journey into Manchester Crown Court.

Along Princess Parkway, the verges are alive with common poppies. Thousands of them, dancing in the breeze and bringing flashes of vibrant red to an otherwise ordinary commute.

They have reminded me that beauty exists everywhere if we are prepared to look for it. Sometimes it is found in the simplest things: a wildflower, birdsong, sunlight through the trees, or a kind word from a stranger.

Life can be demanding, but moments of joy are all around us. We just need to notice them.

This week, mine came in the form of poppies.
