Project A.W.E - Authentic Wild Expression

Project A.W.E - Authentic Wild Expression Project A.W.E was founded by Janine Keall. It is a creative movement rooted in the belief that true freedom comes from embracing one’s raw, untamed self. Hi!

It celebrates spontaneous creativity, emotional honesty, and the primal joy of being fully alive. I'm Janine. A lover of nature, creativity, playfulness and free expression. Currently a carer for a family member, a content creator on YouTube sharing videos on life lessons and authentic expression.

All is fleeting in this world apart from the holding field of it all a Divine essence that enables the human experience to be possible. This poem is inspired by this.

The Grace That Holds Us

The grace that holds us
weaves through our being like a thread
that’s never separate from us
no matter where we tread

It’s like a loving reassuring hand
holding us gently never letting go
and underlying essence beneath
the worldly egoic show

A faint recognition of it can arise
when effort is absent and we’ve relaxed
when the restless subsides
and we feel less taxed

It’s a stillness beneath movement
a spaciousness beneath thought
a tenderness under the armour
of a self-that’s often fraught

So even when life is turbulent
this force remains unaffected
no matter if feeling angry,
sorrow or just plain rejected

A quiet under the blanket of noise
all suffering or mindless busyness
deeper than all conditions
it brings a sense of relief from stress

Gradually a realisation can dawn
grace is deeper than circumstance
we can trust implicitly when we
surrender to its dance

I've been playing with new aqua markers to see how good they are, just doing some scribble drawing. It's one of my favourite activities because of it's wild and untamed nature. As I was in the midst of this activity I received inspiration for this poem. I have spoken about the benefits of scribble a number of times and this poem really encapsulates its attributes.

The Appeal of Scribble

The appeal of scribble Is
there’s no plan
its messy, imperfect
and I’m a huge fan!

With its random marks
of swirls and squiggles
can bring a smile
and sometimes giggles

With its untamed energy
spontaneous in nature
it’s a time to be playful with
the great creator

Just letting loose
no end goal in mind
it’s the best form of fun
to relax and unwind

Out of the blue
an image may appear
to elaborate, to define
and make crystal clear

Conveying a brief message
one needs to know
some guidance or a next step
to heed and follow

Scribbling is a de-stressor
to release intense emotions
when triggered to lash out
in drama and commotions

It’s a safe space,
a refuge on paper
preventing one causing
a regretful caper

The advantage of scribble
it needs no skillset
just a simple activity
to heal and reset

So much of our life is spent interpreting, making stories, meaning and judgements of all that we experience and how this can impact how we relate, act, speak and perceive life. Majority of these assumptions and stories are skewed and distorted. This poem conveys the effects of being bound to believing it and how the end of its reign can alter our life for the better.

The Reign of the Story Maker is No More!

The reign of the story maker
is no more
no longer a stronghold
as it was before

its cunning narratives
failing to entice
the one who’d been
at the mercy of its vice

Where once it was vital
to invest in life content
often distorted by
some traumatic event

Or measuring progress on
how well one’s improved
then seeking attention
to be approved

The never-ending chatter
forming a kind of static
triggers behaviour as if a
machine on automatic

Depending on thoughts
for resolution
duped into thinking
they could present a solution

Now dethroned
and lost its tight grip
it allows the witness
to take the helm of the ship

That navigates beyond
what’s ever been known
exploring uncharted waters
by presence alone

The story maker now plays
a subservient role
to obediently follow
the prompts of the soul

Unshackled from
the false tales once told
the soul is freed
from the restrictive mould

To commune with source
the creative life stream
to fulfil its destiny
and ultimate dream

I received this poem last night whilst being unable to sleep. It represents the feeling of brokenness from the inability to fulfil an appointed purpose and destiny with time running to even attempt to retry.

This Little Bird

This little bird
has broken its wing
unable to fly
though still able sing!

Its signature song
whistles through its beak
to uplift itself
from a world that’s bleak

Reflecting on
what could have been
those times it yearned
to be heard to be seen

Haunted by a
failed assignment
as it perches within
a cage of confinement

Yet the cage door is open
the invitation remains
to free itself from
the sorrow and pains

By asking for assistance
with heart that is humble
to end the struggle
the falter, the tumble

To receive support
a comforting embrace
and perch upon the rock
of the one Divine grace

Who will sustain its life
until its appointed last breath
so, it may rest in peace
at the point of death

I was inspired to write this poem after overhearing a conversation where the person speaking was told to shut up. Something I've experienced myself over the years and how this had a negative impact on my confidence and how I relate to people. Creating the destructive habit of people-pleasing to compensate for the lack of unconditional love growing up. Perhaps you can relate to this too.

Shush! Don’t Speak

Shush don’t speak
I don’t want to know
your words are disruptive
and trigger me so

I’m not willing to listen
to what you’ve to say
if you’re not agreement
and don’t see things my way

I want your obedience
and to always say yes
I will decide on
how you dress

I’ll speak on your behalf
you can’t handle it alone
let’s rehearse what’s to be said
whilst still at home

I expect you to seek my approval
for all that you do
abide by this condition
and then I’ll love you

The past few months there has been a resurgence of the creative flow, like a tap has been turned back on. However I've noticed if I become too distracted by the world and give too much attention to it, the inspiration diminishes and I feel closed down again.

Yesterday morning I wasn't feeling my best and whilst resting the words "my muse is giving up and doesn't want to know" came to mind I immediately felt this was the birthing of another poem so I rose from my bed and began typing this poem. At first I felt a bit rough but as the words poured out it seemed to alleviate. This poetic expression was the healing I needed as it was addressing the grievance my soul was holding onto.

My Muse Is Giving Up

I sense my muse is giving up
it just doesn't want to know
now feeling blocked and dull
where once there was a glow

Due to feeling neglected
from been ignored and pushed aside
in favour giving attention to distractions
from the world outside

There’s anger present from dismissing
its many a crying plea
so much so it feels as though
it’s turned away from me

So, whenever I attempt something creative
it’s like wading through thick mud
the mind goes completely blank
and inspiration doesn’t flow like it should

Then I’m just left staring
at the computer screen
feeling dismayed my poems
may never feature in some magazine

But as I sit here typing
I feel there’s been a change of heart
a second chance from the muse
with these words I impart

As long as I don’t default back
into people-pleasing habits
that lead me down holes
only fit for rabbits!

A few days back I received a message from someone I know who is going through challenges and the impression I received from it was that all was lost and the possibility of things working out were unlikely. The words that came out from reading this was "nothing's ever set in stone" and it developed into this poem. A reminder nothing is fixed or permanent, even if it feels that way when experiencing adversity of some kind.

Nothing’s Ever Set in Stone

When we feel down beaten
and in total despair
when all seems lost or broken
and beyond any repair

Let’s remember nothings ever
set in stone as it may first appear
and there’s chance of redemption
allowing animosity or hurts to clear

For all is in a state of flux
each day is rarely the same
so, what we thought was lost
there’s opportunity to reclaim

Like relationships that seems unstable
and there’s a threat of separation
can suddenly find common ground
and gives rise to reconciliation

Or when illness strikes and we
struggle with fatigue and pain
recovery is possible
to restore our health again

So, when we are challenged
and feel like a lost cause
it’s remembering that this too shall pass
for we are more than an illness a failing or flaw

We've all been down the road of searching and seeking for the next experience or event that will bring lasting peace and contentment and how it feels when the world can't satisfy this need. This poem is based on this.

The Endless Searching

The endless searching
endless seeking
has the lost soul
completely freaking

The restless panic
of needing to know
to make things certain
to control the show

Heading to a psychic
to have cards read
to discover events that
lie ahead

Scrolling social media
to curb loneliness
numbing the feelings
of hopelessness

Consuming information
to pass the time of day
the soul’s hypnotised
by the trickery at play

Overstimulated nerves
frazzled and frayed
hooked by infinite offerings
the world has displayed

Like drugs of euphoria
smoked as a v**e
a quick fix for the depressed
to find an escape

Or virtual games
of realities galore
played for hours
to reach the highest score

Fast food joints
out on the street
enticing you to visit
to comfort eat

So much temptation
it’s hard to ignore
when nothing but barrenness
weighs heavy at your core

Crossing fingers
to wish for some luck
that the next experience
will fill this hole up

Here is my latest poem that reflects on how wild life can be.

The Wild Ride

Life is like a wild ride
with numerous
up’s down’s
twists, and turns

As if thrust into
river rapids
where the water
spats and churns

Where we need our wits
about us
to avoid tumbling
into its ferocious waves

By expecting the unexpected
totally open
to however it behaves

For there is no amount
of controlling on our part
can tame the currents at play

So, our quest is to
shift and adapt
accepting the
splashes and spray

Facing the rocky outcrops
protruding like daggers
ready to tear and slash

Therefore, living in presence
is our only real ally
to prevent suffering
or any fatal crash
