For many families, choosing where to scatter ashes is just as important as the moment itself.

It might be a favourite walking spot, a garden, or somewhere that simply feels peaceful and right.

These gatherings don’t need to be formal, often a few words, a quiet pause and time together is enough.

Whether part of a simple scattering, a memorial, or a larger celebration of life, it can be a very personal and meaningful way to say goodbye.

I support families in creating and leading these kinds of ceremonies in a calm and personal way.

Many families choose to hold a memorial or scattering of ashes some time after a funeral, often in a place that feels meaningful to them.

These moments can be simple, personal and unhurried; whether that’s in a garden, a favourite outdoor space, or somewhere that holds special memories.

If you’re unsure where to begin, gentle guidance and support can make the process feel much more manageable.

Sharing in case it may help someone now or in the future.

Many families don’t realise that a farewell doesn’t have to take place in a formal setting.

A quiet moment at home, in a garden, or somewhere meaningful can often feel more personal and comforting - whether for a loved one or a pet.

A few words, a favourite piece of music, or simply time together can be enough.

Sharing in case it may help someone now or in the future.

A slightly different question today…

If something happened tomorrow, what would you wish you’d said to the people you love?

Not the practical things.
Not paperwork.

Just your words.

It’s something most people think about at some point… but don’t always know how to start.

I’ve been helping people gently put those thoughts into a letter, something personal their family can hold onto and come back to when they need it.

It’s not about getting the words perfect.
It’s just a relaxed conversation, and I help shape it into something meaningful afterwards.

I offer two simple options:

• A remote session with a beautifully written letter sent as a PDF
• Or a more personal, in-home experience with a printed version in a beautiful display folder.

Some people do it for peace of mind.
Some because there are things they’ve never quite said.
Some just want to leave something behind that really matters.

If you’re curious, just comment “letter” or send me a message, I’m always happy to explain.

One of the things families often say to me is how overwhelming everything can feel in the early days after a loss.

If you’re arranging a funeral at the moment, please know there’s no “right way” to do things. A ceremony can be simple, quiet and shaped entirely around the person being remembered.

Alongside funeral and memorial ceremonies for people, I also offer gentle pet farewell ceremonies for families who would value a calm and personal way to say goodbye.

These can be held at home, in gardens, outdoor spaces or at pet crematoria, and are always shaped around each family and their companion.

One of the most important parts of my role is simply listening.
Every family is different, every life is different, and every ceremony should reflect that. My role is to guide gently, create calm space, and help families honour a life in a way that feels right for them.

There’s something very meaningful about taking a little time to pause and remember.
Every ceremony is different, but what matters most is creating space for reflection, for memories, and for saying goodbye in a way that feels right for each family.

Hello, I’m Craig, an independent funeral celebrant covering Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

I work with families to create calm, personal and meaningful funeral and memorial ceremonies. Each ceremony is shaped around the person, or companion being remembered, and the people who loved them.

Alongside funerals for people, I also offer gentle pet farewell ceremonies for families who would value a quiet moment to reflect, remember and say goodbye.

My approach is simple: to listen carefully, guide gently, and create space for families to honour a life in a way that feels right for them.

Ceremonies can be held at crematoria, burial grounds, homes, gardens or outdoor spaces across Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire and surrounding areas.

If you’d ever like to talk something through, now or in the future, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
