🌿 Let me re-introduce myself.

My name is Laura, and I have been a massage therapist for 8 years now. I lived and studied in London, and after a lot of hard work, I achieved my BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy. Since then, I couldn’t be happier doing what I love most — helping my clients feel better.

I worked in a few massage salons and clinics in London until 4 years ago, when my husband and I decided to move to Marchwood. It took me some time to settle in and find the courage to start something on my own. ⭐️

I now run New Forest Massage - Mobile Therapy. At the moment, I offer mobile massage services to our local villagers and everyone else across the New Forest area.

I offer sports massage, deep tissue and relaxing massage treatments, as well as stretching. I especially love adding a few stretching techniques into my sessions, depending on what my client needs most.

✨️The IT band is something I hear about a lot—usually people saying it feels “tight” and needs stretching.✨️

But here’s the thing… it’s not really possible to stretch it.

✨️The iliotibial (IT) band is a very strong, thick piece of connective tissue that runs down the outside of your thigh. Its job is to provide stability, not flexibility—so trying to stretch it directly won’t give you much change.

What does help is looking at the muscles around it 👇

👉 Tight quads and hamstrings can increase tension on the IT band
👉 Weak or underactive glutes (especially glute med) can lead to poor hip control, which puts more strain on it

So instead of forcing IT band stretches, a better approach is:
✔️ Improving flexibility in your quads and hamstrings
✔️ Strengthening your glutes
✔️ Working on overall movement and control

It’s all connected—and when you address the root cause, the “tightness” often settles down naturally 😊
