Thank you to Bude Cancer Support for asking me to give a short talk on Massage for People affected by Cancer. What a wonderful bunch of people you are!
It was great to be able to introduce myself and to talk about the importance of touch that makes you feel good, and about positive body experience - something which sometimes gets a bit lost when going through cancer treatment, as well as in the time after.
A massage can be a moment of self care during a time where a lot of control is taken away, be it as someone dealing with cancer treatments or after, when outwardly everything settles down, but inwards nothing seems quite like before... or as a relative or friend. It can be a time to feel cared for, a time to address pain, stiffness and other symptoms or just to feel less isolated and more in control. There are many benefits of massage during and after cancer..

Self care is so important. It is not selfish, but a way to equip us to cope with the challenges that come along the way, and cancer certainly is a challenge.
There are endless ways for self care. Be it reading a book, smelling a flower, sitting by the sea, watching a favourite programme, writing a journal, take a bath, meeting a friend, paint a stone, listening to music,...and it was lovely to introduce massage as one way to care for yourself.
So, thank you again for having me ☺️.

Exercise...then stretch, rest, relax, stretch again, find the sun, find someone to stroke (or massage) you, maybe try some purring (or deep breathing)....and then stretch out again!
We can learn a lot from being more cat 😉☺️

How easy is it to rush around, stress about the cleaning, worry about the next step at work, get wrapped up in everyday decisions, but forget about the things that nurture us and give us time to think clearer and function better...

Maybe it is time to stop and look at the snowdrops peaking out at the side of the road or go to Widemouth or the Breakwater to listen to the waves. Or maybe pick up the phone to book a massage to switch off for a while and come back feeling better physically and emotionally.
Please get in touch to book a massage, be it for pure relaxation or to address muscle tensions, chronic pain or posture problems. I tailor massages to your needs.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Good evening People in and around Bude,

I wanted to write a few words to say thank you to all the wonderful people that I encountered in my work as a massage therapist over the past year. It has been a priviledge to help you to recharge mentally and physically, to work on areas that cause you aches, tension and pain, to give you a pause for a moment in your busy life and help you reset yourself to deal with what is ahead of you. Thank you for your trust!

I also wanted to introduce myself to those who might be looking for a massage therapist. So here is a little bit about my background:

After working for years as a general nurse in hospitals, hospices and community settings, I decided to train as a massage therapist with the wish to help people with the power of therapeutic touch. I initially trained in Swedish massage, a combination of massage techniques which work on soft tissues and muscles with a calming and balancing effect. Additionally I then trained in Deep Tissue Massage, which allows me to add techniques which work on the deeper layers of tissue.
Last autumn I decided to train in Oncology Massage as so many people who are affected by cancer get declined the option of a massage during their illness and often for quite sometime after. But dealing with the mental and physical demands of cancer and its treatments, or the recovery from it, is a time where a massage can give a greater sense of wellbeing and be a supportive and safe space to be.

I strongly believe that helping muscles to relax, loosening areas of adhesions and retraining our posture we can regain more functionality in our bodies. But not just that - probably a bigger part of helping our body is to pay attention to our mind and allow ourselves to take care of ourselves.

Please get in touch with me if you have any questions or are interested in booking a treatment. It would be lovely to hear from you.

Mondays and Tuesdays I work in my therapy space in the centre of Marhamchurch. Other weekdays I offer mobile treatments.

60min Massage £50
90min Massage £70
30min Massage (Feet&Legs or Head,Back, Neck&Shoulders) £33
Oncology Massage £60

I am looking forward to hearing from you. Call, message or email me.
