SUMMER SCHOOL 2026 WRAP UP!!!
What can we say?!?!?
THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of our hearts for the most incredible three days last week, you all showed such bravery, motivation, creativity, support and kindness and we are so grateful to have danced and shared the studio with every single one of you.
First of all, it goes without saying that we couldn't have held our Summer School without our chaperones, Pat, Samantha and Natalie who are such a pillar of support for us. Thank you for being there and ready for any eventuality and keeping all the dancers safe and happy and the staff caffeinated and smiling, we appreicate you so much.
Secondly, as always a huge thank you to Jason Thomas Performing Arts for the beautuful studios and space which was our home for the three days.
Thirdly we want to thank our incredible guest teachers who gave their time and wxpertise to be with us:
ISH*TA RAINA who taught you the most awesome and powerful warrior contemporary dance. I know how much hard work goes into planning chorepgraphy, especially wth multiple groups and ages and level of experience and what you all created with her pushed you all outside your comfort zone and gave you a chance to really show off a different side to your dancing. Thanks for throwing yourselves in with so much gusto!
Please catch her in Cscape Dance Quest for the Lost Words which is being performed in avrious venues over the Summer- it is a delightful story for all the family and Ishi is absolutely stunning in it!
Next to NATALIE ENGEL for the fun and upbeat jazz routines which left a smile on all our faces! It was lovely to see you all loving your dance and filling the studio with joy and fun!
To KATHRYN CHARLESWORTH who helped you all get fired up and ready for each day with the PBT classes, we know some of you havn't tried it before and that body conditioning can be hard and takes alot of concerntration so well done to you all. I hope you all managed to find a few ballet muscles we need for our technique every day, and have left with some great tips on how to keep them strong and healthy.
and lastly but not least to LUCY KEELING From MiniMe Mindfulness Mid Cornwall. I am so grateful to her for creating sessions tailored to the world of dance and skills for powerful self belief and presence we can all take with us to our classes, the studio, the stage and beyond into our wider lives as human beings.
Please do follow her on facebook and instagram if you havn't already!
Juniors learnt their 5 finger breathing and about the 5 senses which are always available to bring us into the present if our thoughts are running away with us and we are feeling anxious or afraid or just plain 'fizzy'!!!
Seniors learnt the concept of Affirmations, which are so important to our own self belief. If we can first believe in ourselves, the world, and the stage become our oyster, so please practice these daily and believe in yourselves as much as we believe in you.
I am grateful for how fully you all immersed yourself in the Mindfulness practice even though I understand it can feel uncomfortable, and I think it brought us all closer together as a group which is so lovely.
We also had days filled with Ballet tech, repertoire, pointe work (blood and all!) male coaching and bun workshops (for which I know a few parents were grateful as they are now off the hook for hair duty!).
Your all shone so brightly during the sharing on the final day and I know all your family and friends must have been so proud, as were we!! I hope you enjoyed yourselves and loved sharing everything you had learnt (in such a short amount of time) which is a testament to who you are as dancers and how supportive you were of each other.
Thank you also as always to not only you as our lovely dancers, but to your grown ups for getting you to your dance classes every week and supporting you on your dance journey, their committment is what will help get you through everything you do.
Just as importantly, thank you to your regular dance teachers and schools who nurture you in and out of the studio every week and help support you in your technique and artisty. We are grateful they let us borrow you to dance with us and we are so lucky!
Lastly a tiny but heartfelt thanks to my wonderful husband Simon Johns who took photos of the sharing. It's a tricky room to shoot in and he is extremely snowed under with editing at the moment from his day job, but as soon as we get a chance, I will share links for the edited photos which will be yours to keep, and also video footage of the sharing itself so you have a record of your incredible work!
(Again, if you want to follow him you can at Si Johns Photography on facebook and instagram and do look him up if anyone you know is getting married- I am obviously biased but he tell a cracking story with the most beautiful images!)
Please also be aware that our AUTUMN TERM is now open for bookings!
Mr E has valiantly decided on a Cinderella theme this term whoch we will be sharing at the December masterclass.
Please do get in touch to reserve your place as soon as you can.
Have a wonderful summer and enjoy the eclipse and sunshine and all the beauties our world has to offer and we can't wait to see you all again in September for more dancing, creativity, challenge and friendship.
All our love, as ever,
Amy and Mr E ###x
