🦴 **Did you know you can donate bone?**

I didn’t! I only found out when I had my first hip operation — unfortunately, by then it was too late for me to register.

Obviously, it’s a little different from donating blood. You can’t just turn up, donate a bone, then have a cuppa and a biscuit while you recover! 😂

Now, less than two weeks away from having my second hip done, I’ve made sure I’m registered. This means that any bone removed during my operation that would normally be discarded can instead be collected, stored and potentially used to help someone else in the future.

It feels really good to know that something that would otherwise be thrown away could have another purpose. ❤️

Something I knew absolutely nothing about until my own hip journey — and now I’m very happy to be able to donate.

Have you ever wondered why Acupressure points have names?

One of the things I love about Chi Medics is learning the Chinese names of the Acupressure points and discovering how their meanings can help us visualise and understand the way we might work with them.

One point on the course is Jiexi (解溪).

Jie means to untie, loosen or divide, while Xi refers to a stream, brook or valley where water flows. 🌊

The name itself gives us an image of a stream flowing through a valley — opening, dividing and creating space for movement.

I love the way this way of thinking adds another dimension to our treatments. Rather than simply remembering a point and what it is traditionally associated with, we can use its name and imagery to help us think about how we approach our client.

Have you ever wondered about the names of the acupressure points that we use in Chi Medics.

As i was reviewing the course content for the Essentials Gateway course on 20th September I was struck by some of the names, and how they can help us visualise what we are working with, where to add them to a treatment, and how poetic they are.

For example Tàichōng (太冲), which can be translated as “Great Rushing” or “Supreme Rushing.”

I love that imagery — a major pathway, a rushing current, energy that is able to move freely rather than becoming stuck. 🌊

For me, this is what makes Chi Medics so fascinating. We aren't just learning where a point is or what to do with it. We are learning to understand the ideas and imagery behind it, which gives us another way to think about our treatments.

One of the things I find fascinating about Chi Medics is the way it brings the principles of Yin and Yang into reflexology.

The Open Techniques are a great example of this, and one of the first things you learn on the course.

I’ve found that my clients really respond to the way Chi Medics brings together Chinese philosophy, Classical Chinese Medicine (C.C.M.), the Chi Medics approach to acupressure, acu-points and pathways — all through the feet.

It has opened up a whole new way of thinking about reflexology for me, and I love discovering how these principles can be incorporated into my treatments.

One of the aspects I value most about Chi Medics is that the techniques can be so gentle, yet feel incredibly powerful, working with the client’s energy on four levels — physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Sometimes, less really is more. We don't always need to do more or work harder. A subtle little change in technique, approach and intention can have a huge effect on your treatments.

Chi Medics has taught me to work with the client, tailoring the session to them, rather than simply doing a treatment to them.
