If one more person suggests a bedtime routine... π
I know people mean well, but for some autistic children, the activities we're told *should* be relaxing can actually be really difficult.
Sitting still for a bedtime story, tolerating a bath, brushing teeth or simply moving from one activity to another can all be huge challenges.
And what if your child has very limited interests? What if they don't want to engage in any of the activities you're being told to include?
Where do you even start?
The problem isn't necessarily that you haven't found the right routine.
It might be that your child needs support with the skills, transitions or sensory experiences involved before a routine can work for them.
Sometimes we need to stop focusing on what bedtime should look like and start understanding why it's difficult for your child.
That's why my approach starts with understanding the whole child, not just what happens at bedtime.

It'll help you look beyond bedtime and start identifying what might be making sleep more difficult.
