Dani’s bees Multi award winning Honey & Beeswax products with a BUZZ

Eat. 🐝 Buzz. 🐝 Repeat. 🐝 So back I went to reading and studding on my own to get better prepared.
(1)

My journey into beekeeping started back in 2016 when I was looking for extra pollination for the plants, grown at our poly tunnel. After some months of extensive research and reading about all the things that can go wrong - I enrolled to beginners beekeeping course in Elgin (in June 2017) which made me fascinated by the wonderful honeybees but terrified at the same time. I wasn't ready yet and fea

red I can kill them if I start. During the winter of 2017/2018 I attended Aberdeen & District Beekeeping Association (ADBKA) Beginners Classes for beekeepers and actually decided that it's time I get hands on - so far reading about bees got me prepared and aware of the million factors to be considered, so I was not going to get any more ready, so off I went and put my name on the waiting list. So on 08th may 2018 I bought my first colony from ADBKA, transported the precious cargo from Crathes Castle, over the Cairn O'Mount to home and just like that I was a beekeeper :)

Fast forward and few swarms later - I passed the Scottish Beekeepers Association Basic Beekeeping exam (with distinction) and was awarded a BB certificate so it all become official - the rest is a history....

So far every competition I've entered - I walked away with an award or few at the different classes I competed in;

so to date Dani's Bees honey and beeswax have 31 awards, namely:

You know you’re somebody in the beekeeping world if you get a shot of an actual Bee Inspector for a day to be you glamorous assistant 🤭

Joke aside - it was great to have my Bee Inspector over today, to check over the hives for the last inspection of the season 👌🏻

I’ve picked his brain on many things that have been wondering about and helped me with loads of jobs- he’s the most excellent paper weight, holding on to flappy blankets in the wind 💨💪

All hives are disease-free and have healthy and happy colonies. We saw some of the queens, for a very last time this year, wished them Merry Xmas and Happy new Year and even managed to mark 1 elusive one that’s been shying away on me all season and only today showed her face for Graham, so we marked her ⚪️

It’s thumbs up for me, my ba🐝s and my beekeeping practices so really nice to finish off the season on a high note 👍

There was a surprise crop of honey at Fettercairn 🤗 as the girls somehow managed to refill the empty supers I gave them for clearing with a mystery honey (so far the bestest guess is Himalayan balsam and willow bay herb, mixed with bell Heather 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔), so as always the bees made me change my plans and instead of autumn varroa treatment and starting winter feeding, I had to take honey off them and extract and delay the start of feeding but hey Ho - not complaining one bit 🍯 🤤

All of the above in between the showers and dodging the weather 🌧️ so not sure my sun dance actually had worked

Over and out just now as I have to go prepare the stuff for tomorrows visit to the Heather as ran out of daylight today 🤦🏻‍♀️

Naked garden sun dance commencing for tomorrow 💃🏻 sorry neighbours but needs -must, as I really need good weather for tomorrow 🙏

Multitasking today in the shed after beating the rain 🌧️
Drying out the gazebo and putting away for winter the empty honey supers ⛺️
All that after finishing the hives rounds earlier on today, taking down the dry suppers, giving the colonies autumn treatment and starting winter feeding 🦸‍♀️
I know all that is probably double-Dutch to most of you, but in my world, it’s a very busy day. Busy but a happy one with Morphie and Dun , both done today. Tomorrow it’s turn to Fettercairn and Fasque and then the bees on the Heather on Wednesday 💪
praying for good weather for another couple of days 🙏 to finish off my winter prep of all the hives so then I can rest easy, knowing that they’re all cosy 🐝
So apologies for delayed answering to all your messages but please bear with me …

Aaand that’s a wrap for our summer markets at Arbroath ⛅️

It’s 🐝en a great year and I’d like to thank you all for having me and supporting me and making me feel at home 🙏

Loved every minute of every event - even the rainy ones 🌧️

Away to put my (soggy) feet up and dry the gazebo, armed with the bestest hot chocolate in town (Artisana’s of course) 👌🏻

See you again soon at the Xmas market - it’ll 🐝 here before we know it and I know you’re well stocked up with honey to keep you sweet until then 🤶

Have a lovely autumn, Arbroath 🍂 and remember to

Hey honeys 👋
I’m back and getting ready for a long weekend of events, cause I’ve missed ya

This is where you’ll find me:

Thursday & Friday (27&28th) at Union Square Aberdeen for the The Crafters Roadshow

Saturday (29th) at Blairgowrie Farmers and Producers Market

Sunday (30th) at Arbroath Market

I’m working very hard to prepare as much stock as possible to cover all, but won’t have my entire range ready and available, just whatever I can manage 🙄, so if you’re coming to see me at any of those events and fancy a specific product, please give me a buzz and let me know so I can make sure I have it under the stall for you to collect.

Looking forward to catching up with you all
See you soon
Dani x

A question for all my beekeeping buddies out there 🙋🏻‍♀️
Have you seen you bees to work potatoes? 🧐
Mine at Morphie are surrounded by huge tatie fields and I can’t seen them on the plants 🧐 plenty of bumblebees and hover flies there but can’t see any of mine working the blossom 🤔

Some things are certain in life to get you excited 😆
… like Christmas 🎄
… and your birthday 🎂
… and Thornes annual sale 😊
So history repeated itself again and I’m skint (again) but happy with some more hive parts and few bits & bobs for the bees to play with 🐝
Bring on Xmas now so I can start re-filling my empty bank account again🫣
