I always knew I was a good bloke, even when I was boozing, partying and being a bit of a wrongen.

I knew underneath that persona was a good man with a good heart and good morals, I was just all out of sync.

I’d tell people at the bar my number one priority in life was my family, whilst ironically choosing to drink in a bar after work rather than go home to them.

I’d say things like I love being with the kids at the weekend, but my weekends would revolve around alcohol.

I’d look forward to showing up at school events to watch them perform at a nativity play etc, but I’d be grossly hungover.

Now I still tell people the same story, my family are number one. But the difference now is that I follow those words through with action!

I am the man in always knew I was.

As I was bouncing around in my lilac gym set yesterday, going from coaching session to coaching session, taking calls on the move, squeezing in a gym session at lunch and working from 6am until 7pm, it suddenly dawned on me…

I have way more energy at 43 than I did at 33.

Am I ageing backwards?

Definitely not if you look at the grey barnet.

But on the inside?

I genuinely think I am.

When I was drinking, I thought I’d waited too long to change.

I thought feeling tired, unmotivated and a bit flat was just part of getting older.

Turns out it wasn’t.

I feel better now than I ever thought possible at my age.

What’s interesting is I’m seeing the same thing happen with the men I coach.

I’ve got guys in their 60s who are absolutely buzzing about the next chapter of their lives.

They’re taking up running.

Buying new clothes.

Booking trips.

Getting excited about the future again.

Not because they’ve discovered some magic secret.

They’ve simply stopped pouring a depressant into their body every week and started building a life they actually want to live.

That’s the bit people miss.

Giving up alcohol isn’t the finish line.

It’s the starting line.

The exciting part is who you become, what you build and where life can take you once alcohol is no longer holding you back.

For years I’ve had a vision of creating something special for men who have stepped away from alcohol and know they’re capable of more.

Not another recovery group.

Not another course.

A place where ambitious men can build a powerful life alongside other ambitious men.

A place focused on identity, connection, challenge and purpose.

Because here’s what I’ve learned after working with thousands of men…

Stopping drinking isn’t the finish line.

It’s the starting line.

The real work is creating a life that excites you so much that alcohol simply doesn’t fit anymore.

More adventure.
More growth.
More connection.
More direction.
More life.

THOM has been over three years in the making and I am so excited to get started.

If you’re a UK man who wants to become the best version of yourself and build something bigger than sobriety alone, I’d love you to take a look.

Read all about it at www.jointhom.com or follow the link in my bio or ping me a DM if you want to arrange a call and I’ll personally talk you through it

I was telling my kids that I’d done the Wembley tour some years ago and tried to dig out a picture to see when it was…

I was shocked when I saw this picture!

I might not be as tanned and I might have a lot more grey hair but my god… I feel great in comparison, despite being 11 years older.

I can see the pain in my eyes from 2015, tired, heavy, stressed, living for the next pint.

You don’t realise how much damage the sesh life is doing to you until you stumble into old pictures like this.

Sober life is the best life, no doubts about it 🙌🙌

I’ve done all of those things.

Taken my kids to the pub.
Thought drunk dad was funny.
Worn my love for beer like a badge of honour.

And honestly, looking back now, none of it was the flex I thought it was.

Your kids don’t care how many pints you can drink.
They care if you’re present.
They care if you’ve got energy.
They care if you’re actually there with them.

I genuinely thought drinking made me more fun, more social, more of a man.

In reality it was taking me further away from the father I actually wanted to be.

If only people knew the con that is alcohol!!

It is absolutely robbing you of so much joy and you may never even know how good your life could be if you continue to booze your way through it.

That’s why I wish everyone would take a break from alcohol for 90 days and see if for themselves.

The days are longer and slower with more injections of peace.

The sleep is much better and give you so much energy.

Your outlook on life is far more positive, regardless of your circumstances.

There really is no downside to it.

When you are a child, you have a mind full of exciting dreams about what you want to be when you’re older.

These dreams slowly get crushed as we start to settle into adulthood and gain additional responsibilities, house, bills, marriage, kids…

We lose our spark, we settle for mediocrity, we rely on alcohol for an injection of “fun” and that’s that.

But when you stop drinking, even for a few weeks… your foggy mind starts to clear and you rediscover your zest for life.

You start to dream about new goals, you start to imagine a new way of living and you feel a sense of excitement that’s been missing.

In my mind, this is what life’s all about and for so many people it’s just been lost..

This is one of a million benefits you get when you stop drinking and this one in particular is one of the most exciting ones.

So take a break from alcohol yourself and get some excitement back in your life!

A strong relationship is one that can adapt.

We used to spend a lot of time boozing together and having a lot of fun!

Now we spend a lot of time in the gym together and still have a lot of fun!

The boozy date nights were great for a time, but this life is so much better.

Plus we sat and had a drink together tonight, the wife had a rose, I had a 0% beer, what exactly are we missing out on??

There were 3 big signs I knew I needed to take a break from drinking.

First… I started sneaky drinking.

Topping drinks up. Drinking before going out. Hiding how much I’d actually had. That scared me because I’d always told myself I was “fine”.

Second… I started drinking alone.

Not for a party. Not socially. Just because I felt stressed, flat or fed up and wanted to switch my head off for a bit.

And third… the only thing that made me feel better the next day… was another drink.

That cycle becomes exhausting. Anxiety, guilt, low energy… then drinking again just to feel “normal”.

That’s when I realised alcohol wasn’t adding to my life anymore. It was taking from it.

Taking a break ended up giving me more confidence, peace, energy and connection than alcohol ever did.

You don’t have to give up forever, you just need to take a break!!

It’s my birthday today 🥳 And my wife is having her 40th party tonight!!! Birthdays galore 🥰
