Are you endlessly scrolling on your phone, even when you're exhausted?

We can think it's just a bad habit or short attention span, but is that all it is?. Sometimes continuous distraction is just another way to escape uncomfortable physical sensations and feelings.

When we carry unresolved stress, our bodies react in many ways including constant restlessness. To a dysregulated nervous system, turning inward can feel overwhelming. So, our minds look for anything to distract it.

"Just sit still and meditate" often doesn't work for an overstimulated system.

We can't just force stillness. But we can gently release the buildup first so the body becomes a comfortable place to return to.

Why is shaking during exercise different from TRE neurogenic tremors?
When you’re lifting heavy or holding a plank, that shake is just voluntary muscle fatigue. Your brain is driving the bus, pushing your body through high effort. It’s great for strength, but it can keep your system locked in fight or flight.
The tremors induced in my class work backwards. You tire the muscles out just enough to kick off an involuntary, biological reflex. Your brain steps out of the way, and the lower brain stem takes over.
Instead of building tension up, it lets the deep core muscles, especially the psoas (where we carry most of our hidden physical stress), finally let it go.
Exercise is brilliant for burning off adrenaline, but TRE gives the nervous system permission to actually downshift and reset.
Have you ever noticed your body trying to shake off tension naturally after a stressful event?

What wild animals can teach us about stress...
Have you ever watched a dog after a loud thunderstorm or a sudden fright? Once the danger passes, they’ll often give a full-body shake, take a deep breath, and walk away totally calm.
Wild animals do this instinctively to discharge the physical adrenaline and stress from their system so it doesn't get trapped in their body.
Humans have the exact same built-in mechanism. We’ve just learned to suppress it. Somatic release practices simply give your body permission to activate that same natural reset.
