🚑 The Summer of Events Continues… Next Stop – The Royal Welsh Show! 🌾🐄

The momentum doesn’t stop for South Wales Medical Services Ltd.

Following an incredibly busy weekend supporting Tiger Stripe at the iconic Foxhill motocross event, we’re proud to have also been selected to provide medical personnel at one of the UK’s most prestigious agricultural events – The Royal Welsh Show.

Throughout the week, our clinicians will be supporting both the main showground and the SV Arena, helping to keep competitors, exhibitors, visitors and staff safe during what is expected to be another fantastic event.

Held annually at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, the Royal Welsh Show is the largest agricultural show in Wales and one of the biggest in Europe. Since its permanent move to Llanelwedd in 1963, the show has become a celebration of Welsh farming, rural life and countryside traditions, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The event showcases the very best of Welsh agriculture, including livestock competitions, equestrian events, forestry, horticulture, food and drink producers, rural crafts, countryside organisations and agricultural innovation. It provides a vital platform for farming families, many of whom have cared for the Welsh landscape for generations, preserving traditions while embracing modern farming practices.

Agriculture has always been at the heart of Wales, with sheep and cattle farming shaping not only the countryside but also the communities and livelihoods of rural Wales. The Royal Welsh Show continues to celebrate that heritage while highlighting the importance of the industry for future generations.

☀️ Foxhill 2026 – Supporting Tiger Stripe at One of Britain’s Most Iconic Motocross Venues 🚑

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Foxhill 2026 in my role as Company Director of South Wales Medical Services Ltd, proudly supporting our industry partners Tiger Stripe in delivering event medical cover.

Due to the challenging terrain, we were also asked to deploy SV01, our fully converted Land Rover Discovery 3 4x4 ambulance, to provide off-road medical response capability. With its ability to reach remote sections of the circuit quickly and safely, SV01 proved to be an invaluable asset throughout the event.

The weekend brought exceptionally high temperatures, creating additional challenges for riders, marshals, officials and medical teams alike. Despite the heat, it was fantastic to work alongside such a professional team, ensuring competitors and spectators received rapid medical support whenever required.

Foxhill, near Swindon, is regarded as one of the UK’s most iconic motocross circuits. Famous for its steep hills, demanding natural terrain and spectacular viewing areas, it has hosted some of the sport’s biggest events and continues to attract riders and fans from across the country. Set within the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, the area is rich in history, surrounded by rolling chalk downlands and just a short distance from historic landmarks such as Avebury, one of the world’s largest prehistoric stone circles.

A huge thank you to Tiger Stripe for the opportunity to support another fantastic event. Working alongside experienced professionals who share the same commitment to safety and patient care is always a privilege.

🚑 London Calling… Eventually! 🇬🇧

A few days later than promised (mainly because we’ve been flat out deep cleaning vehicles and covering other patient transport jobs), here’s the story behind our recent London transfer!

We received a call from Guy’s Hospital asking if we could assist with transporting an immunocompromised patient safely from West Wales to Central London.

The team quickly sprang into action—planning the route, assigning the crew, carrying out a full deep clean of the ambulance, and making sure everything was ready for the journey.

Our HR & Office Manager, Rachel, was the attendant for the trip. It was also her first experience of driving through Central London… during the evening rush hour. Let’s just say… her feedback on London’s roads and the standard of driving would probably have resulted in a few disciplinary meetings if she’d been talking about colleagues! 😂🚦 Rachel’s official review of London’s driving? “United Kingdom… nul points!” 🎤🇬🇧

Thankfully, despite the traffic and Rachel’s new-found appreciation for rural Welsh roads, the patient had a safe, comfortable journey and was incredibly appreciative of the crew.

Rachel also successfully completed the very important mission set by Company Director Simon: “Take photos of Londony things!” 📸🇬🇧 Mission accomplished!
