🐴 Who's ready for another day at Kingsclere? 🐴

There’s just over one month to go until our Clear Round Cross Country at Kingsclere, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic day of cross-country fun.

Whether you’re introducing a young horse to cross-country, building confidence, or simply looking for an enjoyable day out, our clear round offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with something for everyone.

As some of our hounds age we would like to find them lovely new countryside homes where they can enjoy retirement with a few years of a slower pace of life. They are used to Kennels so will need some retraining but are friendly and have basic commands installed. Both are un-neutered large dogs, but have large hearts to love you and your family (and treats!!) Both can go on a trial basis to you, if it doesn't work out they can come back to Kennels no problem. Both are healthy with no issues.

Athena 7yrs old is a lovely old girl who is looking for a slower paced life. Rocket at 8years old has been a grand servant and bred us some lovely pups is now looking for a sofa to sprawl on.

Hound pups Gravy, Granule and Gracious have been with our very generous puppy walkers Christine and Robbie for less than 24 hours but are already walking out on leads. Yes team 💪🏻

Wonderful to have our puppy show at the family home of our lady Master Victoria Ruffy today in a very sunny Steventon - big thank you to her and her family for hosting. And congrats Grace for the rozzers!

A huge thank you to Jane Smith for a delicious tagine lunch for our judges, masters and guests. Of course a big nod to our Master of Kennels Andrew van Oostrum and Huntsman Matt. The judging was bob on according to the punters so congratulations and Duncan Maxwell for picking the right ones.

Belmands Bar had a great landlady in Charlotte Richardson 🍺 And finally, a round of applause for hunt stalwart Amy van Oostrum 🏇 who does so much for our pack and produced a huge afternoon tea for all our guests. Team work makes the dream work 💅

KENNEL DISPATCHES 🐶

This week the pack have been out in the grass yard every morning and out on bikes at 6am to beat the heat (still 26° at that time this am).

All hounds are looking well and although bouncing to go on exercise soon calm down by the gate on the way out. Upto a quiet hound jog with them now and out for about 45 mins as thats plenty in this heat.

The bitch pups are looking well and showing practice continues, the dog pups are little show offs and even Roger(hound) had his dancing shoes on this am.

Next stop Puppy Show on the 5th 🏆

🐾 Annual Puppy Show 2026 🐾

The Masters of the Berks and Bucks Draghounds would love you to join us for our Annual Puppy Show on Sunday 5th July at The Old Farmhouse, Steventon.

Come along and meet this year’s entry of young hounds, catch up with friends, and enjoy an afternoon in great company.
