Why does DEATH appear again and again in initiation?

Christianity speaks of being “BORN AGAIN.”

But why?

Because contemplating death confronts one of the EGO'S deepest assumptions:

THAT EVERYTHING WILL CONTINUE.

The ego plans next year.

Builds STATUS.

Collects possessions.

Protects an IDENTITY.

Obsesses over recognition.

Then behaves as though all of it is permanent.

But MEMENTO MORI whispers:

REMEMBER YOU WILL DIE. 💀

And suddenly...

That meaningless argument looks smaller.

The stranger you're desperate to impress matters less.

The STATUS you're chasing loses its spell.

The possessions defining your identity reveal their impermanence.

Death strips away the illusion of permanence and forces one question:

WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS?

This gives symbolic death its power.

The initiate doesn't physically die.

An OLD WAY OF SEEING does.

Attachments.

False priorities.

Unconscious distractions.

The illusion that there will always be more time.

Something OLD must symbolically die...

so something NEW can be born. 🌹

This gives another dimension to the biblical language of transformation:
