Some people struggle to reach out for support as they feel they aren't ‘bad enough’ or are used to life being as it is, feeling they don't deserve more.

Therapy is here for all the parts of you, those who felt unsafe and also for those wanting to succeed.

Sometimes the hardest thing is continuing to function while carrying emotional exhaustion, anxiety, grief or unresolved experiences beneath the surface.

You may look like you are coping externally while internally feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or stuck. Trying hard to keep 'the normal' part running the show.

Therapy offers a safe, calm and supportive space to begin understanding what you have been carrying in your mind and body and which parts you can now let go of.

Father's day is really hard for many.....

With growing father absence/abandonment it can stir up a lot of relivings in the present. Anniversary dates such as this can be incredibly painful.

To those adult children, you were enough, it wasn't your fault, sadly even parents can make huge monumental mistakes.

For those who have no resolution from this, marking the day as something different might help.

Today is summer solstice so we decided to celebrate this and appreciating the males who are present. If you have no males around you and none from the past, I see you and the loss.

Wishing wellness....
Peace always,
Gemma

Choosing a partner is literally one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make. If they aren't a great fit, this has huge consequences for our wellbeing.

When you've been betrayed by your partner, this can shatter every existence and fundamentally how you see yourself.

That pain you feel in your body is real.

Symptoms include:
-questioning the reality of the relationship
-doubting your own judgement
-weary of trusting others
-remembering the great times with them even more -flashbacks to the awful moment you discovered their deceit with intrusive images
-struggling to focus and intense emotions from rage to deep sadness
- feelings of shame 'how did I not see that?' 'I am stupid' and 'totally unloveable'

The list goes on.....

This is totally treatable with EMDR therapy and if you decide to keep the relationship that's possible too. Maybe you're the person who was deceitful and struggling with deep seated guilt.

You may also decide to go your own way, you may want to be in a position to offer your love again in the future. Ultimately we're looking at creating self love, getting YOU back again and enjoying your life.

Peace always
Gemma

Explained is how EMDR processes difficult memories...

Understanding the neurobiology of trauma, from the silent Broca’s area to the overactive amygdala, can be a pivotal step in moving from survival to a validated recovery.

Remember that perfectionism is a tool of trauma programming. It's a bullsh*t distraction from messy, incremental, realistic improvement. F*ck ups & course corrections are how we realistically learn & grow at ANYTHING especially trauma recovery Embrace the mess.

Mess is friend.

Hold on for this one.....this trauma runs deep.

This can occur when someone hurts you, whom you depended upon for survival or to cope and the more emotionally close the person was to you, the additional the trauma symptoms.

This one is all about complex trauma, fundamentally shattering your trust in others and yourself.

Causes such as, infidelity, emotional and physical abuse and abandonment. This trauma can also happen with institutions too.

Good news, it's totally treatable using EMDR and tools to help build your trust back up. I'm a big believer in sourcing recovery within calm and safe relationships too.... starting with your therapist.....me 😊

Peace always,
Gemma
