✨ HIGHLIGHTS & TONER – AFTERCARE GUIDE
Your hair has just had a colour transformation, so the right aftercare will help keep it healthy, shiny and beautifully toned for longer.
🧴 WASHING
• Wait 48 hours before your first wash if possible.
• Use a professional colour-safe, sulphate-free shampoo.
• Wash your hair 2–3 times a week rather than daily.
• Use lukewarm water — avoid very hot water, as it can make the colour fade faster.
💜 MAINTAINING YOUR BLONDE
• Use a purple shampoo occasionally to neutralise unwanted yellow tones.
• Don't use purple shampoo every wash — overuse can make blonde look dull or slightly violet.
• Always follow with a nourishing conditioner or mask.
🧖♀️ DEEP CONDITIONING
Highlights can make the hair more porous, so regular conditioning is important.
• Use a professional repairing/nourishing hair mask once a week.
• Apply conditioner or mask mainly to the mid-lengths and ends.
• Leave the treatment on for the recommended time and rinse thoroughly.
🔥 HEAT PROTECTION
Always use a heat protectant before using: • Hairdryer
• Straighteners
• Curling irons
• Hot brushes
Try to keep styling temperatures moderate and avoid excessive heat.
✨ KEEPING YOUR HAIR SHINY
• Use a lightweight leave-in conditioner or serum on the ends.
• Avoid applying heavy oils directly before heat styling.
• Regular trims will help keep highlighted ends looking healthy.
🌊 CHLORINE & SUN
Chlorine, salt water and strong sunlight can affect blonde tones.
Before swimming: • Wet your hair with clean water first. • Apply a leave-in conditioner or protective product. • Consider wearing a swimming cap.
After swimming, rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water.
🎨 TONER
Your toner is designed to give your blonde its fresh, balanced tone and shine.
Remember that toner is not permanent and will gradually fade with washing. The longevity depends on your washing routine, products, heat styling, sun exposure and water quality.
If your blonde starts looking too warm or you feel the tone has changed significantly, book a toner refresh rather than trying to correct it at home.
💇♀️ WHEN TO BOOK YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT
For the best results, I recommend a professional toner refresh every 6–8 weeks, depending on how quickly your colour fades and the look you want to maintain.
If your hair feels dry, fragile or overly porous after colouring, please let me know — I can recommend the right professional treatment for your hair.
Healthy hair first. Beautiful colour second.
