REAL LIVES
Read Stacey’s Bipolar Story

My life was a roller coaster of ups and downs with me
not being diagnosed with bi polar until I was in my late
twenties but having had the quite rapid highs and lows
since I was a teenager once I was found dancing
around Sherwood with no shoes on singing abba
songs it sounds funny but this one of the many things I
did whilst I was high but now in my forties I have been
pretty stable for the last twenty years on the
medication that seems to suit me very well.

During the lows I just wanted to stay in bed didn’t want
to wash or eat I remember begging the doctor to
admit me to hospital as I lived alone but I wanted
people around me to comfort me and hopefully make
me feel better. On the other hand I remember being in
hospital when I was high and trying every window as I
wanted to escape. The Bipolar lift group with Nahida
and Imran helps me as I am around people who really
understand about living with Bipolar.

REAL LIVES
Read Lindas Bipolar Story

I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder in 2007 due to a
stressful situation. I've had many ups and downs, I
have time's when I spend money on things I don't
really need, that is part of Bipolar. I think I've been
over medicated on my Sodium Valproate, it was 800ml
now 500ml… so now feeling a lot better.

I'm a single mum of 2 boys my ex-husband died 30yrs
ago. I've worked all my life to support them. I'm 74
years old and have lots of good friends and have a
great social life. I love music and my belly dancing
group x

My boys have been very supportive of me and
understand me. One of my sons has a mental illness.
They know how to deal with it and I talk to them all the
time. I seem to think now that my Dr. has been over
medicating me and zapping me out because I was
sleeping all the time… time will tell. I feel so much
calmer and on a level playing field now, horray!
