šø Happy Motherās Day! šø
On this special day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the powerful influence our mothers have on usānot only in how we live our lives but also in how we experience big life transitions, like menopause.
As I support my own teenage daughter through the ups and downs of her menstrual journey, I canāt help but reflect on my own experience with menopause. Itās been a time of change, growth, and even grief as I navigate the shift in my own body and mind. My relationship with my mother has played a big part in shaping how I view this phase of life.
My mother went through menopause in her 50s and, although she didnāt speak much about it, she always carried a sense of calm and acceptance. Yet, she also carried her own preoccupation with agingāsomething I now find myself doing as I notice changes in my body. Iāve realised that our perspectives on menopause are often passed down through generations, and itās important for me to break the cycle by viewing it as a time of growth and renewal rather than loss.
For those of us navigating menopause now, this period can feel like both a āsecond springāāa time for new possibilities, self-care, and freedomāand a reflection on our legacy. What did we learn from our mothers about aging and growth? How do we want to shape that experience for the next generation? š«
Letās embrace this new chapter with courage, kindness, and a sense of empowerment. Whether itās through self-hypnosis, mindfulness, or simply learning to give ourselves grace, we have the tools to navigate menopause with a positive mindset.
Happy Motherās Day to all the amazing women and mothers out there, both biological and chosen. Thank you for inspiring strength, love, and resilience. š·š
