“Can you just work on my shoulders?”

It’s probably the most common phrase I hear, closely followed by calves and glutes.

These aren’t random problem areas.

They’re muscles that take a huge amount of load throughout daily life, training and sport.

The traps help control your shoulder blades and neck, the calves handle thousands of impacts every day, and the glutes are responsible for producing and controlling force through the hips.

When recovery doesn’t match the demands placed on them, they often become the first places to complain.

Manchester 10K & Half Marathon is THIS WEEKEND 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼

Now comes the part most runners neglect: recovery.

The race might only last a few hours, but the impact on the body can hang around for days afterwards.

Heavy legs, tight calves, stiff hips and DOMS are all pretty common after longer efforts — especially if you’ve pushed hard on race day.

A recovery sports massage can help:
• reduce muscular tension
• improve movement post-race
• aid circulation and recovery
• help the body settle down after the demands of training + racing

Most runners focus all their attention on getting to the start line… but proper recovery is what helps you get back training well afterwards. 💆‍♀️💆‍♂️
