✨ Exciting New Research Highlights the Power of Reflexology ✨
As reflexologists, we often witness the positive changes our clients experience after treatment. Now, emerging research is helping us understand more about what may be happening inside the brain during reflexology.
Researchers have used advanced brain imaging technology (fMRI) to observe the brain in real time while reflexology is being applied and the findings are fascinating.
🧠 Different reflex points on the feet were shown to activate different areas and networks within the brain.
🧠 Brain responses were not limited to the area responsible for the feet. Multiple regions became active, including the supramarginal gyrus, an area associated with body awareness, learning, empathy, and sensory processing.
🧠 In stroke patients, reflexology appeared to stimulate different patterns of brain activity and was associated with improvements in sensory awareness and hand function following treatment.
The study, led by Dr. Stefan Posse and his research team, represents an exciting step forward in exploring the connection between reflexology, the nervous system, and the brain.
While research continues, these findings offer encouraging insights into the potential role reflexology may play in supporting neurological health and recovery.
💚 Every day, I see how taking time to slow down, reconnect, and support the body’s natural healing processes can make a difference. It’s wonderful to see science continuing to explore and deepen our understanding of this amazing therapy.
The future of reflexology research is looking brighter than ever. ✨👣
