All of the People, All of the Time: Today I attended an Anti-Racism in Leadership Conference and I’m leaving with a deep sense of both clarity and responsibility. Anti-racist leadership is not a stance we take once, but a practice we return to—again and again—in how we think, lead, and design systems. Today reinforced that to lead with integrity requires ongoing reflection, courage to be challenged, and the discipline to notice where systems (and we ourselves) may be unintentionally reinforcing inequity. Equity is not an “add-on” to leadership, but should be embedded in how decisions are made, how power is held, and how voices are heard. I’m especially holding onto the reminder that this work is both personal and structural. It lives in conversations, in choices, in the moments where we choose to pause, question, and act differently.
I’m grateful to have been in a space that was both challenging and grounding. I’m taking this forward in my practice with leaders: to listen more deeply, to name what is often left unsaid, and to continue supporting leadership that is both reflective and accountable.
