Barnsley Well-being Days Week 2 09/05/2025 Following on from our 8 senses connection work at Wentworth we studied incredible omens project with a view to creating a piece of work representing a personal omen we had observed recently in nature. We started by choosing, then sketching out our idea before adding paint pen colour, words and using fantastic use of colour to inspire coloured frames. We first reflected on personal meaning but had a wide variety of nature reference books and folklore/symbology books to look for more collective meaning. We listened the The Magpie by the to help us connect with innate folk customs as we worked. Everyone interpreted the task differently. We also had oracle cards to reference and one person made the tableu more symbolic of their current personal journey, using threads gleaned from animal spirit oracle that resonated, while another chose a summer scene, one the wind (which took on a watery element) and another the magpie. Everyone had a brave go at pencil drawing despite not feeling ‘creative’ or ‘able to draw’ Thank you for allowing us to use this 💜🌿

Mindful Movers c/o Barnsley Mental Health Innovation Fund Presents Tribe Reconnect
Starting next month, Mon June 2nd, we have several funded places left on our women’s Tribe - Therapeutic Nature Connection for wellbeing 8 week course, for women in Barnsley (and surrounding areas) experiencing Mental Health Difficulties. Our last female only Tribe course improved women’s wellbeing scores by an average of 17 points and is run by fully trained therapeutic wilderness practitioners.
We will start with individual 1 to 1’s to understand access needs and set personal aims for participation. We’ll then meets for 4 hours a week over 8 weeks (Mondays 10am-2pm 6 sessions at Worsbrough, 2 at NT Wentworth- transport help available) to take a deep dive journey into nature connection & natural cycles, and how these can be utilised within a wellbeing toolkit which we’ll build by learning about wellbeing, journalling, creative activities and nature connection practices such as foraging, forest bathing & sensory exploration. Along the way we will reflect on our past and the things that have shaped us, and have an opportunity to ceremoniously shed things which no longer serve us. You will be fully supported to build new safe and trusting peer relationships within the group, helping you to build self-esteem through meaningful connection to others.

We wrapped up my first 6 week women’s movement group last week. Thank you to everyone who came along for some or all of the lessons. Each week we had a different focus 1. Core stability, neutral spine 2. Spinal mobility 3. Getting up and down from the ground 4. Crawling 5. Balance 6.Squats. I was able to gain the experience needed to pass my movement coach assessment and it was a joy and honour to suppport everyone to connect more deeply with their bodies, explore cabability and build new awareness, strength and mobility which everyone said is now informing their movement in day to day life. Looking forward to creating some more movement sessions soon 💜🌿

Happy May Day! I’m Preparing for our 1st Free Nature Connection for wellbeing session tomorrow at using book - we will be focusing on Taking Notice and Connecting with Nature through our 8 different senses as we share a group walk with little meditations for each sense.
