Are there any others you’d add?

✨Heart-related physiological sensations associated with anxiety are a natural response to stress. These sensations are typically temporary and settle as your anxiety settles.

✨If you want these sensations to stop, it’s important to address your overall anxiety, learn how to manage the anxious thoughts these sensations trigger differently, and stop over focusing on them. Learn more about how to do this in my book 📚Ten Times Calmer.

Which one of these do you relate to most?

✨To deal with the issue of distrust in test results, you need to learn to differentiate between past experiences and the present, allowing you to validate your current safety.

✨Modify your thinking patterns to avoid constant catastrophising.

✨Broaden your perspective by considering different possibilities instead of fixating on fear-based beliefs.

✨Expand your attention to reduce preoccupation with bodily sensations.

✨Replace fearful self-talk with affirmative language that fosters a sense of safety.

✨Address any underlying trauma, this may require professional treatment.

If you’d like more detailed guidance on these skills, then see my book 📚 Ten Times Calmer.

Do you struggle to tell the difference between anxiety and a real threat?

✨A central aspect of anxiety is that it clouds your judgment. This post highlights some ways you can differentiate anxiety from a real threat by understanding the fear response. Of course, there’s no definitive, clear-cut way to always tell the difference, and that can be difficult for anxiety sufferers, as anxiety often involves a desire for absolute certainty.

✨However, certainty doesn’t always exist, and uncertainty doesn’t necessarily mean bad news. In addition to understanding and differentiating real threats from false alarms, it’s important to build your tolerance for uncertainty too.

Find comprehensive solutions for dealing with uncertainty, and overcoming anxiety in my book Ten Times Calmer. 📚

What is your usual reaction when faced with uncertainty?

Anxiety thrives on the fear of the unknown. Overcoming it involves developing a new relationship with uncertainty, one that builds resilience and reduces anxiety reactivity.

Conquering the fear of the unknown involves both building resilience against everyday uncertainties, and addressing specific uncertainties related to the anxiety problem. Find detailed guidance on how to do this in my book - Ten Times Calmer 📚

This information is for general educational purposes. This approach might not be effective for everyone, due to individual differences, and severity of anxiety. Seeking guidance from a therapist skilled in this work is essential for developing a personalised strategy.

Have you had this anxiety about jinxing yourself?

3 TIPS TO HELP:

✨Keep in mind that jinxing only feels powerful because it gives the illusion of control. However, your thoughts can’t magically cause events to happen.

✨Can you prove your jinxing thoughts true? Look back at your life. Have happy thoughts actually triggered bad outcomes?

✨Find examples where positive or neutral situations weren’t followed by bad outcomes, to help counter jinxing beliefs.

Overcoming jinxing-based anxiety can take time, practice, and patience. The goal is to learn to accept the presence and distress of these thoughts while still doing what matters to you. Responding differently to these thoughts can weaken the power they have over you. Building your ability to tolerate uncertainty is another aspect of overcoming this anxiety about jinxing yourself. If you’d like to learn more about how to do this, see my book Ten Times Calmer for detailed guidance.
