Full Sabbath Rest

Hoping for feet up in the garden, sun on my face.

There will be meditation and a bit of reading.

Then in the evening if I'm well enough we're heading out for a proper roast, no cooking, no washing up, no "just one more thing."

Properly, completely off.

That's the whole point of Sabbath, really ๐Ÿ–ค

What does a day off actually look like for you?

A year ago I was in a hospital bed recovering from a burst appendix. This week, my van broke down and stopped me getting to the Lakes.

Wrote a bit about what that taught me, a year on ๐Ÿ–ค

Sometimes stillness starts with actually listening.

I'm supposed to be in the lakes, van troubles mean I'm home.

Friday nights need new rituals without our lovely GG and her fried chicken

This is a good compromise

The oil of choice tonight is Guaiacwood

Here's what the emotions app and book says

It is a unique healer distilled from the heartwood of the tree. It creates a resonance with the heart of each person who experiences it. This oil connects to their innermost thoughts and feelings, and reveals obscured spiritual and emotional blockages. It is especially beneficial when individuals are feeling overwhelmed, confused, or that theyโ€™ve lost part of themselves somehow. It helps them see that they are known, understood, and worthy of healing. Guaiacwood teaches that true peace comes only after an individual has connected to what they are running from. Each individual is encouraged to meditate with this oil and discover how it will speak to them personally. Guaiacwood will guide them on their path of self-discovery.

Science is still catching up to what stillness has always known.
You don't need proof to feel it. You just need the practice. ๐ŸŒฟ

Relax your shoulders
Release your jaw
Breathe slowly and comfortably, in and out through your nose (unless blocked!)

Use the video to set a rhythm that is a natural breathing ratio. One we use as the start of many of our breathing practices and advanced pranayama practices.

If nothing else have a few minutes watching the view, breathing slowly and you'll go back to whatever you were doing with a calmer mind๐Ÿฅฐ

Off to the Lakes for a few days. This is me actually doing what I taught on Monday.

It was one of those quiet, good ones.

A room of tired people finally allowed to stop.

Yin poses, Yoga Nidra, no rush to get anywhere else.

I am teaching another YiNidra session on Monday 24th August, plus there is a possibility of supper included, if that's something you'd fancy ๐Ÿ–ค

Same event, same photo spot, one year on. Last year it ended with a burst appendix. This year, bacon butties, a borrowed camper van, and a lot less proving myself.

New post is up: A Year Later

Same event, same photo, one year on. What changed wasn't what I did, it was what I let be enough.

Facebook memories just served this up on my personal profile.

A "then and now" I posted two years ago, and today it wanted a fresh "now" to add to it.

Turns out today's also the anniversary of my appendix bursting. Small world, universe with a sense of humour.
Hoping this year's a quieter one ๐Ÿ˜†
FB's suggested song was "Thankful to Be Alive." A bit on the nose, but true. Grateful for this wonderful soul who is looking after me so well while I mend.
